Newsletter C.PP.S MISSION PROJECTS JUNE 2020 IN THIS ISSUE LETTER FROM OUR DIRECTOR ☑ UPDATE FROM TANZANIA ☑SPONSOR A STUDENT ☑ ONGOING MISSION: I WAS THIRSTY AND YOU GAVE ME WATER “Charity does not lie down inactively: it is a flame that never lies still.” St. Gaspar Dear benefactors and friends of the C.PP.S Mission Projects, O ur team at the C.PP.S Mission Projects thank God through the Precious Blood of Christ for all of you, because your generous support is proclaimed throughout our missions, especially among the most vulnerable people. Looking back at the 44 years of our missionary presence in Tanzania, we are humbled by your generous giving, support and spirit of volunteerism. Our mission projects could not have transformed the lives of so many Tanzanian people without you. Thank you for responding to their needs with a generous heart. The Tanzania of today is better than that of 44 years ago because you made a fundamental choice to be involved. Thank you for choosing the way of love. We long to connect with you, because we know in this time, we are all vulnerable. The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged us on all fronts. We are beaten, but not broken. We send this Newsletter to thank you for your sacrifice and mutually encourage one another in this difficult time. But more importantly, to strengthen our solidarity that we can build a better world by coming together in a coordinated effort to care for the whole human family and the rest of creation. The way to authentic solidarity begins when we accept the sacred call of stewardship. Stewardship ignites a profound sense of love and sacrifice. On this way I see beyond my needs, wants, loses, vulnerabilities. I see beyond myself. And it is on this way our Lord Jesus Christ meets and challenges us to not abandon the most disadvantaged members of the society, rather to have compassion and see Him in them. Yes, even if the easiest choice right now would be to send them away because we do not have enough for ourselves. No one has to be sent away or discarded. Instead we have to put on the mind and heart of Jesus who invites us to take the little we have, bless it and share it with others, especially those in need. This is how we bring to others the joy of the Gospel. For this reason, our apostolate continues. This is the power of the Gospel, to not abandon the sheep entrusted to our care. As God takes particular attention toward the poor, hears their cry and from heaven He looks down on the poor to raise them from dust (Cf. Psalm 34:5); He also wants us to be attentive to their cries and bring to them glad tidings that they are also precious and loved by God. In this way we become true vessels of salvation and gifts of new life. While we proclaim the Gospel, your generous support makes sure it reaches its historical tangibility throughout our missions. Indeed, the Good News of Christ touches and changes people’s lives because you make the difference. As messengers we announced: “they need water, food, health care and education”. You gave them water, food, health care and education. We are indebted to your generous support. The Missionaries of the Precious Blood and their lay associations never fail to remember their benefactors and friends each day. May God bless you abundantly. , Sincerely, Jerome A. “Charity does not lie down inactively: it is a flame that never

lies still.” St. Gaspar

Dear benefactors and friends of the C.PP.S Mission Projects,

Our team at the C.PP.S Mission Projects thank God through

the Precious Blood of Christ for all of you, because your generous support is proclaimed throughout our missions, especially among the most vulnerable people.

Looking back at the 44 years of our missionary presence in Tanzania, we are humbled by your generous giving, support and spirit of volunteerism. Our

mission projects could not have transformed the lives of so many Tanzanian people without you. Thank you for responding to their needs with a generous heart. “Our Mission is to witness, bless, console, raise up, and radiate the beauty of Jesus”

2 JUNE 2020 C.PP.S MISSION PROJECTS

THANK YOU FOR THE DORMITORY

Dear donors and sponsors, thank you for providing our students with the dormitory. Indeed, your generous

support has changed and will continue to change the lives of many underpriviledged students.

You responded with a generous heart and construction began right away

The dormitory offers our students a safe environment to meet academic and social challenges. They no longer have to walk long distances to come to school. Above all, they are now safe from abuse and harassment. The dormitory has also helped us to significantly reduce student drop-out rate. Our students do not have to worry about taking care of their siblings, cooking and collecting fire wood.

Washrooms in the dormitory

Such accomodation also protects them from being forced or manipulated into child labor, avoid early marriages and risk behaviours and factors that lead to early pregnancy and troubled adolescence. Because of you, they have now a safe enviroment to study and hope for a better tomorrow beyond their current situations. Moreover, we believe a healthy body helps grow a healthy mind. Housing students in the school encourages them to participate collectively in games, sports and recreational programs. Being active helps them to grow socially as they celebrate birthdays together and enjoy social gatherings and activities.

As part of maintaining an active and healthy schooling, all boarding students have access to three meals a day, a basic need not afforded at home because of poverty.

As boarding students, they also have a continual interaction, away from normal school hours, with teachers, patrons and matrons who help them with school work and projects, hence enhancing their academic excellence and extracurricular activities.

While at boarding school, all students are supported and encouraged to continue practicing in their faith freely. Our principal concern is to provide an education that focuses on the development of a human person as whole (an integral human formation). At the center of this intergral formation is the sharing of ideas, knowledge, spiritual strength and beliefs between the religions. It is most common for students to join their classmates in fasting, vigils and celebrations. There are regular visits to churches, masjids and services off from the school in order for students to meet and integrate with local Dodoma religious communities.

More importantly, at the boarding school they are taught civic duties and responsibilities by assimilating good habits such as making one’s bed and practicing small acts of kindness like visiting the sick.

This is the Dormitory you helped to build.

Why Support Education?

Education is the best tool to equip learners, especially young people, with attitudes, knowledge and skills to

tackle cultural, economic, political and social problems and inspire development. It is not only the bedrock of any civilized society, but also the catalyst of socio-economic growth, the foundation of justice and peace, the heart of culture and tradition, and the driving force of innovation and production. Nevertheless, education unlocks potential and opportunity. The better educated the society is, the better livelihood.

By providing quality education to students from poor backgrounds, we teach them how to reclaim their places in the society, their dignity as human persons. You have sponored many of our students because you have responded with a big and a warm heart to the mission of Christ the Redeemer who calls His followers to always seek an opportunity to witness Him, especially among the poor and vulnerable. We place our trust in the Lord that He will continue to touch your generous heart, to continually be instruments of His redeeming love.

4 JUNE 2020 C.PP.S MISSION PROJECTS

Together we can eliminate this gap. Help the C.PP.S Mission Projects to replace that dirty water-hole with this glass of water.

Providing safe and clean water to the people we serve is the #1 most cost-effective way to end poverty. Above all, it is the most cost-effective way to save lives. Scientific research show that where people gather water from swamps and other unclean water sources, they are at extremely high risk to contract deadly pathogens like typhoid, harmful strains of E. coli, and other waterborne diseases. The cure to waterborne diseases is underneath them. You can help eliminate waterborne diseases for good by digging a well and providing a windmill to continually pump up water. We are committed and determined to do whatever it takes to bring these deprived communities safe and clean water. Join us today in serving lives.
