East New Britain Deputy Governor Hon. Cosmas Bauk has challenged trainees of MTI to be ac-tive development part-ners through a change of mindset. Hon. Bauk was speaking as the Guest of Honor at the institution’s 2nd Open Day which was staged early in November.The Deputy Governor challenged all trainees to be attuned to the lat-est socio-economic and political developments at all levels so can be able to make informed deci-sions as an elite member of the community; high-lighting that for such to be accomplished, a total shift of the mindset was necessary.

“Our laid back attitudes

and the norm of being spectators towards devel-opment must cease im-mediately.”“I challenge you to push the bar to change your way of thinking; to start thinking and acting like professionals in your re-spective field of study.”The Deputy Governor also issued challenges for the trainees as elite citi-zens to rise up and take ownership of the prov-ince’s pressing issues;

such as Autonomy and local business entrepre-neurship.Hon. Bauk who is also the Chairman of East New Britain Education Board, also took the time to con-gratulate MTI for its es-tablishment and commit-ment in providing further education opportunities for school leavers; not only in the province but also for those in the re-gion and the country as a whole.
