Newsletter VOL 15, ISSUE 15 FRIDAY, November 5, 2020
Dear School Family,
Our Year 12 students have begun their first week of
examinations with the majority finishing at the end
of next week. The order of the examinations
changes each year with Mathematical Methods
being the first this year. Please continue to pray for
our Year 12 students as they study and prepare for
their exams. Also pray for the students who have
already finished and have begun to enjoy life after
Year 12. We look forward to celebrating with them
at the Year 12 Graduation on Tuesday, November
24, and the Formal on Thursday, November 26.
I have been greatly encouraged by our Parents and
Friends (P&F) and Parent Prayer Group throughout
this year. Their support and love for the Temple
community continues to make a significant
difference. They are a vital part of our Temple
community and continue to work hard in supporting
many events which has been very difficult this year.
The P&F have a real heart for growing a greater
sense of community, especially amongst the
parents of Temple. We are always very keen for
new parents to join P&F and it is a special way of
having a much closer connection and a greater
insight into the life of Temple. I attend all the
meetings and appreciate connecting with parents.
We have several parents in the group who have
their youngest child finishing Year 12 this year. It is
a great time of celebration as their school days as
parents are finally coming to an end, but it is also
regrettable as their season on P&F is coming to an
end. It will be encouraging to have some new
parents join, especially if you have only just begun
at Temple.
Our Year 11 student leadership team have begun
leading Friday Morning Worship and our Monday
Assemblies. It has been good to see how they work
as a team and their desire to see students draw
closer to God. I am so encouraged to see students
across the year levels rise and take on the various
leadership opportunities and serve the Temple
community. A group of students from Years 10 and
11 have begun Vision Youth, and this is a
lunchtime youth group extending the great work of
Daughters of Grace and GENTs by bringing the
boys and girls together.
Our Year 9 students complete the Summit to the
Sea 32 km walk on Friday. The students have built
up to this walk throughout the year, and they are
ready to rise to the challenge and complete it. The
day begins at Mt Lofty and will finish at Seacliff.
The Year 9 students have been actively involved in
the Rite Journey throughout this year. Miss Alison
Cocks our Year 9 Coordinator, has been
encouraging and challenging the students
throughout the year. They have developed a
greater level of resilience. I want to thank Miss
Cocks and the Rite Journey teachers for all their
efforts in looking after our Year 9 students and their
genuine desire to see each one of them grow
through the Rite Journey and the many challenges
they have encountered.
I continue to have many enrolment interviews for
students to join us at all year levels for next year. I
am encouraged by comments from new families
who have been drawn overwhelmingly to Temple
through a connection with a current family.

SACSA Volleyball
As the year draws to a close, our students took the opportunity
to compete in the last SACSA Carnival on the 2020 calendar. On
Wednesday, 28 October, Week 3, of Tern 4, Year 9/10 students
competed in the SACSA Volleyball Carnival held at the ARC
Campbelltown. This year Temple had two Year 9/10 Boys teams
and two Year 9/10 Girls’ teams. Then, on Thursday the Year 7/8
students had their opportunity to compete in their SACSA
Volleyball Carnival, also held at the ARC Campbelltown.
Across both days of Volleyball Carnivals, the students were
faced with strong competition. Our students are to be
commended for the way in which they met this competition with
enthusiasm. The Year 9/10 Boys Gold and Silver teams overall
placed 4th and 6th respectively. The Year 9/10 Girls Gold and
Silver teams overall placed 6th and 11th respectively. The Year
7/8 Boys Gold and Silver teams overall placed 3rd and 6th
respectively. The Year 7/8 Girls Gold and Silver teams overall
placed 6th and 8th respectively.
Well done to all of the students who attended the carnival,
encouraged one another and displayed good sportsmanship in
their games. Thank you, also, to the students who attended the
carnival to assist with coaching or umpiring.

Adelaide Christian Centre 75th Anniversary Last Saturday night,
Adelaide Christian Centre
(ACC) celebrated it’s
75th anniversary, featuring two items from Mr Daniel Ryan’s Year 10
Ensemble. The students uplifted spirits with a rendition of Kirk
Franklin’s song Brighter Day, followed by a crowd favourite, My
Redeemer Lives by Reuben Morgan. As the evening explored the
history of ACC and its deeper connections with Adelaide Christian
Schools such as the Sunrise Christian School and Temple
campuses, the Year 10s appropriately provided items that created a
joyful and celebratory atmosphere. This event not only showcased
the amazing gifts of these students, but further reflected the heart of
the school to not only bless the school community, but to be a
blessing to those outside of the school’s walls.

We have our Year 7 and 8 Orientation Day on Wednesday,
November 25, and this will be for students that will be
entering these Year Levels next year. Informa on sessions for
parents this year due to CoVid restric ons will be online.
I look forward to Orienta on Day for the students.
Iden ty is an essen al aspect of life, and ul mately, we find
our iden ty in God through what Christ has done for each of
us and being led by his Spirit. We, as believers, are all
brothers and sisters in Christ.
“26 For you are all children of God through faith in Christ
Jesus. 27 And all who have been united with Christ in bap sm
have put on Christ, like pu ng on new clothes. 28 There is no
longer Jew or Gen le, slave or free, male and female. For you
are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And now that you belong to
Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his
heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.”

SACSA Netball
On Wednesday, 21 October, Week 2 of Term 4 multiple
netball teams from Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 competed in
the SACSA Netball Carnival held at SA Districts Netball
Association courts in Golden Grove. This carnival was
later in the year than normal due to the original dates
being impacted by COVID-19. This meant that there were
great weather conditions for the day outside, compared to
the usual rain experienced at the netball carnivals.
This year, we had multiple senior students step forward in
leadership and volunteer to coach the Year 7/8 and Year
9/10 teams. These coaches are to be highly commended
for their commitment, enthusiasm, encouragement and
involvement at the carnival. Thank you to Tiana Scholz,
Lucy Winkley, Kiana Meinel, Brooklyn Hodgson, Jake
Meinel, Preston Natale and Jonathan Bleby; the day
would have not been as successful as it was, if it were not
for your invaluable contributions as coaches.
Well done to all of the students who attended the carnival
and showed great sportsmanship throughout the games
played. The Year 7/8 Boys team placed 5th overall and
the Year 7/8 Girls Gold and Silver teams placed 10th and
18th respectively. The Year 9/10 Boys team placed 5th
overall and the Year 9/10 Gold and Silver teams placed
8th and 15th respectively.

Year 11 Physics
Recently the Year 11 Physics class attended
the Ingenuity Expo run by The University of
Adelaide. While this is usually a big event
attended in person, things were a little different
this year and the event became a virtual
exhibition with online activity sessions.
The Year 11s successfully constructed
hydraulic lifts and investigated projectile motion
by adapting the design of simple projectile
launchers. There was much variety in the
designs developed by the students. The
students then had a chance to explore online
the university students’ projects from
Architecture, Engineering, Technology,
Computer and Mathematical Sciences.
A great time was had by all.
