RESPECT RESPONSIBILITY RESILIENCE
From the Principal… Dear Families,
This week has been a big week of announcements, and we have all
dealt with a number of changes. We have taken time at school
to consider carefully how the announcements will effect our
teaching and learning, as we head into Week 5.
Our school will be open next week with students attending each day, returning to a 'new normal'.
As we return, we will have a time of transition and some aspects will not be returning to completely
normal operations. We will continue to keep you updated with new announcements as soon as we are
advised.
Teachers will return to full time 'face-to-face' teaching. Following the Department of Education
directions, teachers will not be continuing with learning packs or home learning plans for remote
learning as they will be fully focused on educational delivery onsite.
ATTENDANCE
We have been instructed to resume usual 'attendance' recording as of Monday 25th May. This means
if students are absent they will need to bring a note when they return with an explanation. If you
are unsure about any of the attendance procedures at school, please contact our office for
assistance.
BUBBLERS
All students are reminded that they cannot use the bubblers at this time and must bring their own
water bottle with them to school.
ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE
We are continuing next week to do 'kiss and wave goodbye' at each of our three gates in the morning
and afternoon. Teachers and student leaders will be close by for support. We ask that parents
remain off site and remember social distancing outside the school gates.
SPORT AT SCHOOL
We will be following the department guidelines with regard to hygiene and safety guidelines to
support our students with sport and physical activity.
BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE
Before and After school care continues to operate.
CLEANING
To help keep our school safe during COVID-19, we have had have extra cleaning in place during the
day, and this will continue in coming weeks.
GUIDE FOR PARENTS FROM NSW GOVERNMENT
Please read carefully through the information in the following link as it may answer some of your
concerns at this time. https://education.nsw.gov.au/content/dam/main-education/news/Face_to_Face_Learning_Guidelines_for_Families.pdf
As always, we will continue to work with our families to support our students in a positive transition
back to full time on site schooling. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have concerns.
We look forward to seeing you all next week.

PBL Focus for Week 5
As we welcome students back to school next week, our PBL rule for Week 5 is:
I am resilient when I adapt to changes and environmental factors.
Students can show they are resilient by saying goodbye to parents at the school gate
on arrival, continuing to follow school and class rules (even when a casual teacher
is on their class or in the playground), engaging positively with friends during play time or
during wet weather eating in a different place as directed. Teachers are looking forward
to welcoming students back next week, and looking for the ways they are adapting
to change and environmental factors.
Assessment and Reporting for Semester 1
We will be adopting a revised approach to student assessment and reporting for Semester
1, 2020, reflecting the teaching and learning environment in this first half of the year.
Schools are required to provide a simplified written report to parents/carers about
students’ learning in Semester 1. Principals have the flexibility to modify
their existing report templates, or develop a new simplified report.
Reporting will focus on the learning that has taken place so far this year in
English and Mathematics, with other key learning areas being combined in
one comment. The report will include a student’s progress and
achievements, as well as areas for development. The grading of students
using the five point A-E scale is not required and will not be used. The key
things to note about the revised approach are that it fulfils our
requirement to provide information about student progress and
achievement and recognises the upheaval in schooling these past few
months. We intend on issuing reports in Week 10, however have flexibility
for them to be available up until 30th August (Week 6 Term 3). Looking forward, we
envisage the Semester 2 reports (issued in December) to be back to normal and using our
existing reporting template with which many of you are already familiar.
Parent Resources: Office of e-Safety Commissioner
During the COVID-19 pandemic, young people are spending increased amounts of time in
online environments, engaging with others through various digital platforms. Now, more
than ever, we need to be vigilant in understanding what children are engaging with and how
we can support them. The ‘Office of the e-Safety Commissioner’ webpage has a
vast range of information, advice and resources to support parents. To access the

ANZAC DAY Zoom Summary By Ewan 5/6A
Recently, our school leadership team recorded
an ANZAC Day Zoom conference. In this
conference we recorded ourselves speaking
about ANZAC Day using a traditional script
that would have been used at a school
assembly. We did this in order to honour the
soldiers who fought for a better future for us.
Doing it through a conference was the only way
we could do it as we weren’t supposed to be at
school at the time, due to what is going on.
Our leadership team feels honoured to have
sent this out to families because we are
helping to keep the ANZAC spirit alive.

Jump Rope for Heart program is a fun school based physical activity that also raises
funds to support the Heart Foundation. Our school has supported Jump Rope over the past two
years, raising hundreds of dollars to support the Heart Foundation with the added bonus of improved
fitness levels in all students. The students' enthusiasm is second to none and each year the bar is
raised a little higher in terms of skipping expertise. During recess and lunch breaks, the playground
replicates a sea of ropes; looping, twisting and turning as students strive to improve their skills.
In Term One we sent home details for students and
families to register an online account to fundraise and
log their skipping activities through the website
https://www.jumprope.org.au/parents
On Friday 29th May, we welcome students to celebrate
their skipping achievements this year in the annual
'Jump Off Day'. Students will participate in a range of
skipping activities run by our Sport Captains. We ask
students to wear red and bring a gold coin donation.
Happy Skipping!
