Students return on Tuesday 24th July.

Last week our Girls Football team played Kincumber PS in the fourth round of their NSW PSSA Knockout. The girls

played very well and came away with a 4-1 win. They now move to the next round which will be played early in Term

3. Good luck girls.

During the upcoming holiday there will be a number of projects completed in our school grounds. These will include

upgrades to our main entry area and to the bottom corner of our oval.

I am still awaiting confirmation that our top oval and basketball area will be open to the public through the

Government Program offered last holidays. Once I have confirmation I will notify the community via our app and

website.

A reminder to all families that our School Fair is on Sunday 19th August. Hopefully everyone will take the opportunity

during the holiday break to sell raffle tickets that were sent home. There are some great prizes and students selling

two books receive a free wristband for the rides.

I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy two week break and I look forward to another busy term starting on

the 24th July.

LEARNING TO LEAD SPORTS DAY WITH KHS

On the 21st of June, Mrs Jarmaine and 12 Stage 3 students from Avoca Beach Public School went off to the Learning

to Lead Sports Day, held at Mackillop Oval. The Learning to Lead Day was designed to teach kids from the feeder

schools of Kincumber High School about sports and leadership skills, helping them get to know potential classmates

for years to come. The day was run by year 10 Kincumber High School students who chose to do sports studies as one

of their electives. It was an excellent opportunity for the year 10 leaders to demonstrate their skills and to lead a small

group across the sports field.

The students from Avoca Beach, Copacabana, Pretty Beach and Kincumber Public School were involved and were

split into a few smaller groups, then went to participate in their designated sport. There were six rotational sports,

including Sporting skills, Cricket, Oztag, Soccer, Ultimate Frisbee and Volleyball, each rotation run by a couple of

year 10 students.

In conclusion, the day was highly successful, and although it rained parts of the day, this did not dampen the Avoca

Beach students spirits as they ran, leaped, threw and dodged their way across the oval. In the end, all the kids kept at

their rotation without complaints, and had an enjoyable leading and learning experience.

PSSA GIRLS SOCCER – ROUND 4

On Tuesday 26th June our Stage 3 girls soccer team competed against Kincumber Public School in Round 4 of the PSSA Knockout competition. The girls played extremely well displaying a high level of football skills throughout the game.I can pleasingly say that Avoca Beach were successful beating Kincumber 4-1. We now move onto Round 5 of the competition early next term. Well done girls! Mr Wright

PBL WEEK 10

This week our PBL focus has been on how to be responsible with school property and our personal belongings. Students have recognised the importance of labelling their clothing and equipment and putting it in their school bags after use.

Our school expectations require students to be responsible by being organised with permission notes, money and personal belongings. Students are demonstrating their personal best by checking lost property if their items are missing.

VOLUNTEERS AT OUR SCHOOL

Volunteers play an important role in the daily school routine. Please be aware that the Department of Education

requires all volunteers to complete a Volunteer Declaration and provide Proof of Identity that meets the 100-point

check. We are updating our records in accordance with these requirements and ask that anyone who is currently

volunteering, or planning on doing so in the future, complete the attached declaration and return it to the office

along with your 100 points as soon as possible. This not only applies to in-school volunteers but also anyone that at

any stage may be transporting our students to off site activities.

For parents transporting students to off site activities please be aware that we still require copies of both your

current driver’s licence and current vehicle registration. This documentation must be provided prior to the activites

and is required even if you are transporting your own child. In accordance with department requirements the

transporting of students is not permitted until all documentation has been received.

prior to the leave then an approved ‘Certificate of Extended leave - Travel’ will be issued. The original certificate will
