  • Underage Update.

Blarney overcome Naomh Aban in the Football Championship. The junior footballers had prepared well before going to championship having overcome Canovee and drawing with Kilmicheal in the league. They next took on Naomh Aban in the championship in Kilmurry. They started well scoring the first two points of the match, a point from play from Joe Jordan and free kick from Mark OLeary. Fifteen minutes in, the Blarney goal was threatened for the first time, but keeper Shane Jordan made a great save to keep Blarney in front. Mark OLeary and Ray Murphy added two points before Naomh Aban struck with a well-placed goal. At half time the score was Blarney 0-6 Naomh Aban 1-2, David Cremin putting a score on the board before the half. Blarney started the second half well, Paul OLeary punching two points from tight angles. Naomh Aban then responded with a second goal to tie the scores. Mark OLeary kept the scoreboard ticking over by converting the frees, however Naomh Aban seemed to be putting in a good challenge. After a number of unsucessful attacks Blarney finally managed a goal when Conor Foley won the ball in the full forward line and finished into the back of the net. Mark OLeary got the final score to clintch the win. Final Score: Blarney 1-11 Naomh Aban 2-7

Junior A Hurling For the second year in a row the Junior A Hurlers take on Inniscarra in the first round of the Muskerry Junior A Hurling Championship. Blarney will be hoping for a similar result to last year in which they cruised past them to win by eleven points. The game is scheduled to take place on Saturday 6th of June in Donoughmore. In the Muskerry league Blarney have two wins and two loses from four games and are in second place in the standings. This year they have also entered the county league, unfortunately they lost their first game away to Ballinora.

Junior B Hurling Following a few good challenge games the Junior B Hurlers recently started their competitive campaign against Laochra g in the league. They overcame their opponents and the elements to take the victory on a scoreline of Blarney 3-12 Laochra g 2-10. As there is a change in the structure of the league this year Blarney will now have a few weeks to wait before they take on Donoughmore in their next league game in mid-June.

Well done to Mark Coleman who played his part in the Cork Minors victory over Limerick last month in the Munster Minor Hurling Championship. They will take on Limerick again in the Semi-Final on the 1st of July following Limericks victory in the playoff. Our minors hulrers didnt have the same result unfortunately as they lost out to a strong Charleville team in the Premier 2 Hurling Championship on a scoreline of Blarney 0-12 Charleville 1-16. Good victories over Midleton, Aghada and Carrigaline in the league show they capable of going far in the championship. They take on Passage West in the second round in July. Big Congratulations to Blarneys F14 Camogie team on their fantastic win over Courcey Rovers to claim the Feile na nGael title during the month. The girls will now represent Cork in the Feile Finals in Derry from June 19th to 21st. Club Na ng is running every Saturday morning in the main pitch from 11am, for boys aged 5-10 years old. If you have children of this age you are more than welcome to bring them down for a chance for them to enjoy themselves playing some football and hurling. With the summer holidays approaching that means the return of the Cl Camps. The camps will run from June 29th to July 3rd from 10am to 2.30pm for boys and girls aged 6 to 13.
