With a cough and a splutter, the fish was alive once again. Uniform As it gets nearer to summer (hopefully) could we remind parents that, as part of school uniform, children are permitted to wear sandals but they must not be open toed. Please ensure your child has their full PE kit in school every day. School Governors

My name is Nikk Esser and I am a Staff Governor. I am the newest member of our governing body and was elected only last year by the school staff to represent them. My role as Staff Governor is to contribute to the decisions being made by the governing body as well as building links between the governing body and the staff at the school. Since joining the school over eleven years ago, I have gained a number of „hats‟ which now include teacher, staff governor and also parent as my daughter Molly attends the school and son Zachary is due to start in September. This has resulted in me being passionate about the school for many different reasons and bringing perspective from a number of varying angles. In the short time I have been a governor, I have attended induction training which has assisted me in getting to grips with my new role and have also been actively involved in the monitoring visits that take place. You will either find me in KS2, where I teach part time in year 5 Elephant class, or on the school drop off or pick up. I am always happy to have a chat so please feel free to come and say hi!

Turtles Turtles class are asking parents if you have any spare buttons at home, green and blue would be great but they will take any colours for a project that they are doing on Friday 24 May 2019. Thank you Recycling If you have any empty printer cartridges please drop them into the school office. We are able to recycle them and will receive up to £2.50 per cartridge we send off. Every little helps. Essex County Council (ECC) Send Strategy In Essex 2019-2024 Please find a notice from ECC for the opportunity to give parents their views.

Luke’s full piece of writing Shady, grey clouds loomed over the colourless sea as an emotionless fish with a hopeless look swam across the seabed. He swam towards his imagination – confining room with dark, towering walls. Then suddenly, he heard a loud splash from above as a large leathered book - which left a trail of bubbles - floated gently down in front of the fish. Confused, he picked it up and began to read, completely unaware of the magic within. As he opened its wrinkled cover, he felt a slight glimpse of joy. “What is this?!” he exclaimed as this book was not normal. As he read on, the pages began to produce a soft glow, illuminating the seabed. But within the light, there was a shadow: sharks. They crept towards the innocent fish, yearning for a meal, pearl teeth glinting in the magical light, and bit the fish. The light continued to grow brighter until it was unbearable for the sinister sharks. Blinded and confused, they left the motionless corpse of the fish. The unbearable light, as bright as the sun, erupted in a sudden outburst of colour; azure whales rose from the glowing pages, which lay scattered around the dead fish. Looks of sorrow appeared on the whales‟ faces as they swam around the corpse. An orange light began to appear as they carcass rose into the air as if he were a puppet. With a cough and a splutter, the fish was alive once again. A look of confusion appeared on his face as he looked towards the whales. Amazed, he thanked them, but something was different. He felt different: he felt joy.
