Parent Governor Election Results Thank you to those parents who stood for the recent Parent Governor election and
to all the parents who voted. The successful parents were Linda Browett, Simon Brown, Rachel Fitzgerald and Sue Robson. Congratulations and a big thank you to
all the candidates who stood for election.
CCS Community helps the Homeless As a tutor group 12AW decided to focus their efforts on
helping those who are without shelter over the cold Winter months. The class decided to focus on local charities and
chose to help the homeless of Northampton. Acorn House Shelter for the Homeless in Northampton has accommodation
for 31 residents and provides food, accommodation and
advisory services to single males who find themselves without a fixed address. Donations from parents, staff, students and
library users have been outstanding and Acorn House were delighted to receive over 20 bags of goods. Thank you.

Initial Teacher Education at CCS For a number of years now, teachers at CCS have been working with a range of ITE providers to help train
people to become teachers. This brings many benefits to the school and our students as we get to work with new teachers with fresh ideas and access to the latest initiatives in education. We have also employed a
number of staff who have been on teaching placement here and they have gone on to make a great
contributions to their departments and the school as a whole.
If you are considering a career in teaching then there are a number of routes through your training. Two local providers who pride themselves in training local people to teach in local schools are the Northampton Teacher
Training Partnership and the Grand Union Training Partnership. Details can be found at www.nttp.org.uk or
www.gutp.org.uk respectively. Both courses offer a range of subject specialisms within secondary education and are currently recruiting for September 2012 trainees.
PAMPER EVENING
Our next main event is the Pamper Evening on Friday
16th March 2012. So if you are thinking of a gift for Mother’s Day or just
fancy an evening of pampering and shopping, look out
for more information in the New Year.

Sixth Form hosts its first Health & Social Care Conference! To launch our new A Level in Health and Social Care, we hosted our first multi-professional Health and
Social conference in October. We were delighted to welcome staff and students from Moulton school to join us. Students had the opportunity to listen to a range of health professionals, including
physiotherapists, dieticians and a senior lecturer in Occupational Therapy from the University of
Northampton. Students enjoyed the opportunity to work alongside the Moulton students in group work activities. They particularly enjoyed the variety of practical activities! These included bed making, using
physiotherapy equipment and taking medical observations.

Rugby Tour Manchester and Leeds - Nov 2011
The Year 9 team had a successful tour in Manchester. The boys played against Altrincham Grammar School and Sale Grammar School. On Friday 11th November the boys were a credit to the school demonstrating the 2 minutes silence
maturely en route to Manchester. On arrival at Altrincham the boys were fully focussed and had a very committed warm
up and run through prior to the game. During the game the boys were clearly attacking and played some very well drilled rugby. The scrums were sturdier than in previous games. With the lineout winning good ball as well, the backs
were on the front foot with great link up play and continuity. Altrincham vs CCS WIN 32-12
Man of the Match: A Pearmain
In the evening the boys celebrated well and enjoyed a game of bowling and a meal at Frankie and Benny’s.
Sale Grammar School on Saturday morning was a tougher test for the now tired boys and their previous performance the
day before was showing. Sale took an early lead, boosted their confidence and our heads dropped. We matched them in play having most of the possession and territory however were unable to make the correct decisions in play to
capitalise on this. Sale played some very clinical
expansive rugby and made the most of their chances to have a good win.
Sale Grammar School vs CCS LOSS 24-19 Man of the Match: O Newsham
Picture Opposite: Sale Grammar school vs CCS
All the boys were a credit to the school throughout the tour and made it a very pleasurable and memorable
experience. I hope the boys will continue to develop their
rugby and hope they gained valuable life skills from the tour, learning some memorable lessons from their
question and answer sessions with the international players they met in Leeds. An inspiration to us all!
Quote from the tour: “We feel like a real team now…
we’re all a group of great friends.” Mr P Beaumont – PE Tutor.
