Working together to ensure that every day, in every classroom, every student is learning and achieving.
Welcome back to all our Emu Creek families! We are looking forward to this semester and work-ing with you to support your child to Learn, Believe and Achieve! Staffing News Mrs Murphy is currently on Long Service Leave, touring around outback Queensland and other parts of Australia. She has been sharing news and photos of her journey as she visits places such as the Age of Dinosaurs at Winton and the Natural History Museum at Eromanga. Whilst Mrs Murphy is on leave, she will be placed by Ms. Nat Dobell. Ms Dobell is the new district relief teacher for the Clifton Cluster and you will see her regularly throughout Semester 2 if one of our teachers are away. Ms. Nye, our cleaner, is currently on leave for the remainder of Term 3. Mrs Shirley (Joy) Ger-chow will be replacing Ms. Nye. Upcoming Excursions Friday 26th July – Years 3-6 will participate in Gala Day (Soccer/Netball) at Allora State School. A tuckshop menu is attached to this newsletter, or students may bring their own packed lunch. Please note the bus will leave at 9am. Please ensure they have a water bottle and hat. Friday 9th August – P-2 will participate in the U8 Day at Clifton State School. 3-6 will participate in the second Gala Day at Allora. Permission notes and tuckshop orders will be sent home next week. Friday 6th September – P-6 will participate in ball games at Clifton. Friday 13th September – P-6 excursion to Amaroo to participate in the “Connection to Country” activities. Students will discuss indigenous culture, history and traditions and participate in hands on activities such as ochre painting and basket weaving. This excursion will replace our Naidoc Week excursion to Cobb & Co Museum. School Opinion Surveys School Opinion Surveys logins and instructions are attached to this newsletter. This is an oppor-tunity for you to provide feedback regarding the school and how we can improve. The online survey opens Monday 29th July and closes Friday August 23rd. Sporting Schools We are really pleased to announce that Sporting Schools (after school sport) has returned! We have been fortunate enough to secure funding for Term 3. This term, we will be providing touch after school on a Tuesday afternoon starting next Tuesday 30th July. Every student (from Prep through to Year 6) is welcome to participate on Tuesdays from 3 – 4pm. Students are expected to meet the same behavioural expectations of our school during after school sport. Students who do not meet these expectations will not be allowed to participate. Our coach on Tuesday 30th July will be Terry McSweeney, and the following Tuesdays will be Emma Heidrich. This is an exciting opportunity that is provided free to our students. In order to continue to secure
funding for our school, we need to see as many students as possible participate.
Book Week Dress Up Day
Our Book Week Dress Up Day is Thursday, August 15th. Students and Staff come dressed as their favourite book character.
Book Fair August 12th to 16th
Parents and students can visit the library to view or purchase books each afternoon from Monday to Thursday. If you can only come in the mornings you need to arrange it with Mrs Donnelly pri-
or to the day. I encourage you to support this Fair as the more books sold, the more books that the library receives for free. Mrs D.
Library Book Bags
It is important that students borrow books from the library but they must be encouraged to take
care of these books when they have them at home. We also ask that they transport the books to and from school in a bag. If they don’t have a library bag, a shopping bag will suffice. It is better
than nothing. Having books in a bag also helps the students keep the books together and they are less likely to be lost.
Library day is Monday. Students take 2 books out a week for a fortnight. They can bring their
books back weekly if they wish but must bring them back at the end of a fortnight. We encourage the students to remember themselves but sometimes they may need prompting. Mrs D.
