The Knights of Columbus and the Snows Women’s Auxiliary are no exception. On Saturday, December 6th, the Knights of Columbus hosted their annual Christmas Party. Everyone had a wonderful time as we shared the camaraderie of friends, and feasted on delicious food. The evening was topped off by a surprise visit from Santa. The following day, Sunday, December 7 th , The Snows Women’s Auxiliary hosted their first ever Christmas Tea Party. Under the leadership of Vice President, Tahnee Ramirez, and her Tea Party Committee comprised of Sandra Gerhardt-Carroll, Jean Russitano, Sharon Cortez, Carole Cranfield, Cindy McLaughlin, Karen Totten and Lorie Johnson an afternoon of exceptional fun was created!!! The committee came up with the concept of the tea party and then worked very hard to make their idea come true. They decorated very beautiful tables, and made all the yummy food. Their planning paid off as all the participants had a wonderful time playing games and interacting together. I want to thank the over 50 members who got into the spirit of the afternoon with creative hats and outfits. The Christmas Tea Party is a perfect example of how the SWA works to bring members together to get to know each other better and to enjoy each other’s company. Thank you ladies for a very successful event that is sure to become a tradition of the SWA!!! It has been an honor to be President and Co-President of the SWA these last two years. Thank you to the ladies who served on the boards with me. Your support and help was invaluable and I will always be indebted to you. Thank you to all of our members for supporting the SWA under my leadership and giving me so many blessings too numerous to mention here. During the Tea, I was very pleasantly surprised to be called to the microphone by Tahnee to receive a card and parting gifts from all of you. THE REASON FOR THE SEASON

The month of December is filled with expectation and celebration. Preparation is the key word for the first 24 days of December. Everyone is getting ready for Christmas — shopping and decorating, baking and cleaning.

Too often, however, we are so busy with the material preparations that we lose sight of the real reason for our activity.

Christmas is a Christian feast — and we must reclaim it as such! In the same way that a family eagerly prepares for a baby, so in Advent should we prepare for the coming of the Christ Child. We should keep Advent as a season of waiting and longing, of conversion and of hope and keep our thoughts on the incredible love and humility of our God in taking on the flesh of the Virgin Mary. Let us not forget to prepare a peaceful place in our hearts wherein our Savior may come to dwell.

The best person we can turn to for help during Advent is Mary, Christ's and our Mother. She awaited the day of His birth with more eagerness than any other human being. Her preparation was complete in every respect. Let's crown our preparation and borrow something of Mary's prayerfulness, her purity and whole-hearted submission to God's will.

From: Catholicculture.org

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have

recourse to you.

Tea Party Food: The Tea Party Committee with the help of the Snow’s Youth Group are shown here busily prepping for the delicious Tea Party Lunch. SWA’s own Chef, Sandra Gerhardt-Carroll, pictured top left - getting crazy in the kitchen. Sandra was the one who treated the group to delicious Italian Sandwiches. The rest of the Tea Committee provided the accompaniments to the sandwiches. A fantastic salad and fruit skewers were served .They were followed by a lovely choice of desserts that included a lemon infused pastry dusted with gold, a pastry dotted with cherry surrounded with icing, and not to be forgotten- two different kinds of homemade nut breads.

Christmas themed Tea Tables: Each member of the Tea Party Committee were assigned a table to decorate. During the Tea Party, guests were invited to vote on the best table design. Top Row, left to right: Carole Cranfield, Cindy McLaughin, Extra Table 1-Tahnee Ramirez (not voted on), Extra Table 2-Tahnee Ramirez (not voted on), Jean Russitano. Bottom Row, left to right: Karen Totten, Lori Johnson, Tahnee Ramirez, Sharon Cortez and Sandra Gerhardt-Carroll.

The SWA took an opportunity during the tea party to thank our outgoing president, Leslie Patti for her many contributions during her time as President of the SWA. Looking back, the original Ladies Group consisted of only a few dedicated wives of the Knights of Columbus. Amongst those ladies, a vision arose that the group could be more viable and vibrant and helpful to the Parish if they could offer membership to all women of the Parish. Leslie took that vision and ran with it. It was not always an easy path but with Leslie’s leadership the group has succeeded and is a proud organization. We will miss Leslie as President but look forward to more good work and good times with Mrs. Jean Sokol as the new incoming President.

And Last but Not Least- the Snow’s Youth Group volunteered to help prepare and serve at the Tea Party. The young adults were not only efficient but very, very wonderful and helpful. The Tea Party Committee Leader, Tahnee Ramirez expressed more than once that the tea party would not have been a success without their help. Their group leaders, Gigi Grape and her husband, Frank are standing in back. Thank you Gigi and Frank for all you do for our youth.
