Proud of our Achievements! On the weekend Zane and I went to Coffs Harbour to play soccer. Grace scored 11 goals and won 7/7 games. Zane scored 2 goals and won 3/6 draw 2 and lost 1. We had a great time and love to go back next year. From Zane L and Grace.K

I love little athletics.

My favourite event is 800m running which is 2 laps around Miller

Park field—pretty long. I received a trophy for participating and

next year I would like to try harder and get a better point score. I

have had only one season of little athletics and for the next

season. The other events I have done are shot put, long jump, dis-

cus, javelin, hurdles and racing. Just like 800m, 400m, 200m 100m

and 50m.

From Zane W

Last Friday night we had our Branxton Greta Redback

Swimming Club Presentation. I received an award for being

Top Achiever in point score. We earn one point by

participating in each race every Friday night and we also get

three points every time we get a personal best time.

At the championship I got a 3rd place ribbon in the 7 year

girls butterfly and a 2nd place ribbon for the 7 year girls

breastoke race. I think swimming is GREAT fun!

From Clair M

This summer I participated in the Branxton Greta Redback

Swim Club. We had our end of season presentation last

Friday and I received the 10 Years Girls Age Champion

Runner Up medal. During the season I did morning training twice a week with my awesome

coach Ben. Ben chose me to have the coaches award. He only chose one person and I

was lucky enough to be that person. I worked very hard on my swimming and will always

try to achieve my personal best. I love swimming and I can’t wait until next season.

Stage 3 News Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Year 6 cake stall today. There was so many yummy treats for the students to buy. All the money raised from these fundraisers are put towards the Year 6 gift to the school at the end of the year and those special Year 6 activities.

Year 6 will be undertaking Peer Support training on Thursday 27th April with Mrs Mungoven and Mr Brecard. This is a

great opportunity for them to develop their leadership skills. Peer Support will run on Mondays from Week 3 to 10 and it is important that the Year 6 leaders are present for every session.

Please make sure the expressions of interest and deposits are in for the Canberra excursion by the end of the term. We need to confirm numbers and start making final plans.

If your child is interested in applying for the GATS extension class at Rutherford Technology High please make sure you speak to your class teacher as soon as possible. For reference, the selection criteria for the class are as follows: • Strong academic performance across a range of subjects • Good literacy and numeracy skills • Sound research skills, including library and internet skills • High level of self-motivation • Positive attitudes to school and learning, including homework • Ability to work in a team in learning situations • Positive behaviours which enhance learning • High levels of creativity evident in learning tasks We encourage students to take that leap and apply for what is an amazing learning opportunity.

Regards, The Stage 3 teachers

CANTEEN NEWS

THE NEW CANTEEN MENU IS HERE!!!!!

Public school canteens in NSW are required to meet the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy outlined by NSW Health. Under the new system food such as fruits, vegetables and sandwiches will make up at least 75 per cent of canteen menus and "occasional foods" like pies, sausage rolls and nuggets will be limited to the remaining 25 per cent. For this reason we have had to remove some items that were available every day and have included daily specials and meal deals that are in line the new strategy

______________________________________________________ Thank you to all the volunteers who have helped in the canteen in term one, your time is greatly appreciated. The school would not have a canteen without you We are looking for more volunteers to help in term two. If you would like to help but are un-sure whether you are suited to the role, drop in and chat to Sharyn any time. You don’t need any special skills and full training is provided. You will also be rewarded with a deli-cious lunch and the smile on your child’s face when they see their parent or grandparent in the canteen! * Flexible arrangements can be made for people who are unable to commit to a regular day due to shift work or having young children at home.
