Newsletter Week 6 Term 4 2019
Congratulations Mrs Leverett
Lead accreditation is the highest level of accreditation
that a teacher and school leader can apply for. It is
voluntary and those who are successful
become nationally certified and receive a medal from
the education minister.
Lead teachers are recognised and respected by
colleagues, parents/carers and the community as
exemplary teachers. They have demonstrated consistent
and innovative teaching practice overtime. Inside and
outside the school they initiate and lead activities that
focus on improving educational opportunities for all
students. We congratulate our amazing Mrs Leverett for
achieving Lead Accreditation. Well done we are so
proud of you!
Kindergarten Orientation
Last week we welcomed close to 100 new Kindergarten students to being

Parents had the opportunity to sit and listen to both students and staff talk
about the wonderful and exciting projects happening next year. We will
welcome back our newest students next Wednesday 27th November for their
final orientation session.

Pet Education Program K-2
On Tuesday 19th November students from years K-2 listened to a wonderful
talk on responsible pet ownership. This government initiative is a fantastic
program aimed at young people to teach them about safety around pets.
Our infant’s students took part in role play, song and story with Victor the dog.
A great amount of fun was had by all.
Kindest Regards,
Mrs Gillian Blackmore
School Principal

CODE REaD@RPS 2019
Endorsed by the Australian Dyslexia Association, the CODE REaD Network is
an organisation founded with the aim to ensure that all people with dyslexia
are understood, acknowledged, empowered and have equal access to
opportunity.
Regentville PS got onboard to support this initiative. We had red paper plane
challenges, yummy red treats for all and a learning workshop open to our
community.
What an incredible day we had on Thursday 9th November! The 'buzz' in the
air was undeniable as the gentle simmer of empowerment spread
throughout the day's events. Of course, there was not one single event that
surpassed any other. There was not one moment more important or
significant than the rest. The generosity of time, openness to embrace new
learning and willingness to acknowledge dyslexia, was at the heart of such
a successful day.
I have had many, many conversations with families, students and teachers
about their learning, experiences and encouragement for all learners as a
result of CODE REaD@RPS. Thank you to the CODE REaD Team, Healthy HQ
and our P&C for coming together to make a difference!
If you would like any further information or make an enquiry, please come
and have a chat.

Penrith Valley Public Speaking Grand Final
The voices of the valley were heard loud and clear at the Penrith Valley
Public Speaking Grand Final held here at Regentville Public School. The top
six students from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 competed in the competition from
schools across the Penrith Valley. The content varied from our confusing
English language, to holidays to conspiracies about the moon landing. All
students commanded a presence on stage and delivered speeches with an
engaging and sincere style!
Congratulations to Dylan who represented Regentville Public School in the
Year 5 category with a well prepared and humorous speech about an
encounter with a magpie. Thank you Jaxon Dunn and Sophie O’Leary for
confidently chairing the prestigious event.
