Newsletter Greek School of Ayia Triada Birmingham Design: Dr. S. Tryfonos Dear parents, very warm welcome to all of our new students and parents, and an equally warm welcome back after Christmas vacation to all our current ones! We hope you had a nice break. My name is Penny Vasilaki and I am really glad for being a new member of the teaching staff of Ayia Triada School. The Autumn semester finished, leaving behind wonderful memories of a term full of energy and creative work. The new year is upon us, meaning a busy, but full of expectations, schedule for this month and beyond. The weather might be getting colder and colder, but don’t forget that we still have many events and celebrations for our students and parents throughout January. Whatever you have planned for the year, I hope there's something on the horizon that brings you joy, even in the most icy, grey, poor and abstemious of months! Also during the dinner party not only we have been presented with lovely dance performances and singing but also some of the students who have taken their examinations received their awards. At this point we need to thank the Church and the Church Committee who every year the give to the school the money for the awards of the Outstanding Pupils of the year. The photo below is from our student who received A* in her GCSE in June 2016, Elena Kyriakou. Well Done

Elena!

We are very happy to announce that the students will represent our school at Παγκυπριος Μαθητικο ς Διαγωνισμος

Λαογραφιας, Όμιλος ‘Κτήμα Πάφος’, an initiative taken by our headteacher, Dr Tryfonos. We will participate in the competition with an original traditional song about ‘ξενιτιά’, composed by Nikos Savvides and the lyrics of which were written by the teacher of the students Miss P. Vasilaki. Additionally the students who represented Ayia Triada Greek School in the Competition (Sofronia Barton, Anna Karafillides, Mariam Serghi and Andreas Serghi) have been awarded by the Consul for their outstanding performance and the effort that they have put and the time they have dedicated to this competition . We all felt extremely proud and moved, when they sang the song at the celebration of the Three Hierarchs.

After many rehearsals, the song finally recorded on Saturday, 28th of January by Minoas Koutedakis at school. At this point, I would like to express my most faithful thanks to Mr Savvides and Mr Koutedakis for their volunteer work and for kindly dedicating their time, labor and inspiration to our school. The following are some highlights from the event:
