Over the next week, we will be working on the different parts of our newspaper report. It may be a good idea to leave yourself a couple of pages in your exercise book so that you can keep coming back to it as we add bits over the next few days. Today, we are going to look at coming up with a good headline for our newspapers. First, think about what name you want to call the newspaper that is publishing your article and write it nice and big at the top of your page (your headline will go underneath this).

Using the features we’ve just looked at practise using them by thinking of a good newspaper headline for these pictures.

Now make a list of as many good headlines as you can for your newspaper article using the features we’ve just looked at.

Once you’ve done that pick your best one and write it in big neat letters underneath the name of your newspaper

at the top of the page!

This is the Year 3 and 4 spelling list. Children should be able to spell these by the end of Year 4. You could do your own spelling test with some of these or maybe create a game with them to help you learn them. Your weekly spellings may include some of these.

I will put a set of spellings up each week that you can learn at home. It will have the previous weeks spellings and the next weeks spellings (you only get 5 new ones each week, recapping the 5 from the previous week). Spend about 10 minutes at the beginning/end of every SPAG lesson to learn this weeks spelling using look, say, cover, write and check. If you are able to, ask someone to test you on these spellings at home.
