National Board of Accreditation committee visits PCCOE

PCCOE strongly believes in imparting quality technical education. With this aim, PCCOE had applied for National Board of Accreditation to get evaluated and assure it's continuous adherence to quality standards set by the National Board of Accreditation of All India Council of Technical Education.NBA expert panel visited PCCOE in September, 2012. The entire PCCOE family demonstrated their continuing commitment to integrity and capacity to provide effective programs and services based on set benchmark for accreditation standards.

National Conclave on Quality Excellence for Auto Sector :

One day National Conclave on Quality Excellence for Auto Sector was organized by PCCOE jointly with QCFI (Quality Circle Forum of India) and Auto cluster at Auto cluster, Chinchwad on 3rd November 2012. Many reputed companies like Tata Motors, Volkswagon, Hero Honda, Bajaj Auto, Mahindra participated in the conclave.

PCCOE Industry Institute Interaction Meet 2012 :

A state level “PCCOE Industry Institute Interaction Meet 2012” was organized by PCCOE on 30th Aug 2012 in association with University of Pune. Around 200 professionals including 140 Training Placement Officers from across Maharashtra and 60 HR professionals like Directors, Regional Heads, Talent Acquisition Managers of reputed organizations like TCS, Synechron, Amdocs, Zensar, Cap Gemini, Persistent, Tata Motors, Wipro, IBM, KPIT, SKF etc. participated in the meet. Prof. Shitalkumar Rawandale, Dean, Industry Institute Interaction was the convener for the meet.

PCCOE T & P cell with the help of Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT), an autonomous body of Ministry of HRD, Govt of India, arranged “PCCOE BOAT Bharti Melawa” on 8th September 2012 at PCCOE. 33 reputed companies including Tata Motors, Mahindra Hinoday, Kirloskar Group, SKF, Bajaj, Synechron, Kalyani Group, Bharat Electronics, Sun Pharmaceuticals, Saint Gobain, Force Motors etc. gave an opportunity to around 2000 students from across Maharashtra and selected around 300 students as Apprentice trainees.

Faculty Development Programmes Organized:

üA Faculty Development Program on “.NET Technologies” was organized by Computer department and CSI Student Chapter from 3rd to 7th December 2012. Mr. Vaibhav Dhumal was the resource person for the FDP and Mr.S.R.Jadhav was the event co-ordinator for the same.

üA Faculty Development Program on “Rational Application Development” was organized for faculties of PCCOE and the other colleges from 20th to 23rd June 2012 . The resource person for the same was Mr. Rama Shankar from IBM. This event was co-ordinated by Mr. S.R.Jadhav from Computer Department.

ACTIVITIES AT PCCOE

Workshops Organized:

üA workshop on "C-programming" was organized for SE Comp students on 17th August 2012. It was conducted by Prof. Dr. Jayant Umale, Head of Computer Dept.. The workshop enabled students to learn the art of Programming and the easy ways to master it.

üA one day workshop on “Computer Networking Routing” was conducted by Mr. Aditya Sawant, Alumni 2010-11 batch currently working as Network Engineer and Analyst at KPIT Cummins, Pune on 18th August 2012 for TE IT students. The speaker threw light on basics of networking, DHCP, IP Addressing, Sub netting, Switching operations and VLAN etc. The event was organized by Mrs. J.H. Dewan from IT.

üA one day workshop on "FPGA Design Flow" in association with CoreEL Technologies, Pune was organized in E & Tc department on 11th August, 2012 for faculties and ME students from various technical institutes across Maharashtra. Mr. Rajesh Bisht, Zonal Manager, CoreEL Tec. Pvt. Ltd. was the esteemed speaker for the session and also gave hands-on the SDK and EDK design flow.

ü one day workshop on “Overview of Group Discussion and Personal Interview” was organized by MCA department on 4th August 2012. Dr. T. J. Vidyasagar, Head of MBA Dept., was the esteemed speaker for the session. A theory and Practical session was taken on “Overview of Group Discussion and Personal Interview”. Total 40 students participated in the workshop. Mr Rajkamal Sangole was the co-ordinator of the workshop.

üA Guest Lecture on “Practical Aspects of GSM” was organized in E & TC Dept. under ETSA by

üMr. G.R.Rahate and Mrs. Anjali Shrivastav for students and faculty of E&TC, IT and Computer Engineering. The Expert guest lecture was delivered by Mr. V.M. Dapurkar, Sectional Division Engineer at Regional Telecom Training Centre, BSNL, Pune on 16th September, 2012 where he gave an insight of various network aspects of Global System for Mobile Communication.

üA Guest lecture on “Higher Studies (M.S.)” by Mr. Amol Patil , Alumni 2007-08 batch was conducted on 10th August 2012 for TE IT students.

üA Guest lecture on “Entrepreneurship Mindset” was conducted by Dr. Vinay Chandratre, an Entrepreneur and Faculty (Associate Director, SBPIM) on 29th August,2012 for SE IT, BE IT & TE E&TC students. Mrs. Jaya Dewan (IT) and Mrs. Jayashree Joshi (E&TC) were the faculty co-ordinators. Approx. 100 students actively attended the session.

üA Guest Lecture on “Entrepreneurship in IT sector and challenges in IT sector after MCA” was organized by Mr. Rajkamal Sangole for all MCA students. The Expert guest lecture was delivered by Mr. Shreyas Chiplunkar from Interface Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Pune on 13th August 2012.

üA Guest lecture on "Linux Operating system for Embedded system" was organized under ETSA on 30th September, 2012 for final year E & TC students. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Sandip Padwal from Arya Omnitalk Wireless Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Pune and was coordinated by Mrs. A. S. Pawar from E & TC Dept.

üA Guest Lecture on “Indian Labor Laws” was organized for MBA-I, MBA-HR students by Advocate S. Gijare on 18th and 22nd October 2012.

Mr. Sachin Mohan Bhide, Chief Management Consultant, Eha Management Consultancy, the guest speaker, highlighted the importance of enhancing presentation skills in students life and supported his talk with many real life examples, tricky questions and participation exercises.

üA seminar on 'Effects Of Pranayaam And Benefits Of Yoga' was organized by ETSA under the guidance of Prof. A.R. Suryawanshi on 6th September, 2012 for students and staff of E&TC department. The session was conducted by Mr. Bhujbal and Mr. Phoolchand Vishwakarma, who demonstrated the benefits of yoga and its positive impacts on spiritual, mental and physical welfare of human beings.

üA seminar on “Upcoming trends in Android” was organized by MCA Department on 12th Oct. 2012. Ms. Madhura Nahar, Corporate Trainer, Mindscripts Technologies was the eminent speaker.

üA seminar on “Approach towards Research & Development” was arranged at PCCOE for all teaching faculties of PCCOE on 31st Oct. 2012. Dr. Sudeep Thepade, Dean R & D, PCCOE was the eminent speaker who highlighted the importance of research and the line of action to be followed for boosting research activities at personal and institute level.

üA seminar on "Research Motivation" was arranged by IT department for faculties of PCCOE. Dr. Arvind Karandikar was the eminent speaker who opened new arenas for research and gave impetus towards increased research work.

DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES

üCODECHEF – The C programming contest was organized for all Computer students on 21st August 2012. More than 40 students participated and were given challenging questions and students enjoyed cracking their brains to find solutions. The competition was judged by HOD Prof. Jayant Umale and Prof. Sonali Patil. S.E. students Nilesh Mahajan and Komal Bhagat were declared winners for the same.

ü“IGNITE-Follow your passion” was organized by Computer Department on 22nd August , 2012. The students got a platform to explore their thoughts, passion and were given an opportunity to express it through a presentation. Mayur Mane T.E (Comp) and Prasad Jagdale S.E (Comp)were declared winners for the competition.

üProject poster presentation contest was organized for final year students of computer department on 16th August 2012. 33 teams participated and their posters portrayed a snapshot of the vast imagination and creativity the students had captured while preparing it. Dipti Patil, Dipali Nangade, Nikita Muthiyan and Minal Patil secured first prize for their poster on “Intelligent Knowledge Extractor” guided by Prof.A.D.Thakare.

üTech Quiz - A two days technical brains testing event was organized on 23rd and 24th August 2012 for Computer Engg. students. An aura of enthusiasm and competitive spirit was witnessed amongst the students. Priti Shelar from T.E(Comp) was awarded the first prize for the same.

üREVIVAL CEREMONY and POSTER COMPETITION was organized by Information Technology Student Association (ITSA) on 24th August 2012. Mr. D. N. Mondal, Deputy Financial Advisor in Department of Defense, was the esteemed guest for the event. Dr. Sudeep Thepade and Prof. Swati Shinde were the esteemed judges for the poster competition. The first prize was awarded to Prasad Kajale and Chitraraj Joshi from TE IT for their poster named-'One step closer to bootless computer'. The event was conducted by Mrs. Sandhya Shinde (ITSA Incharge) and ITSA core committee members.

üProject Exhibition was organized under ITSA on 12th September 2012. Prof. Anjana Arakerimath was the esteemed chief guest and judge for the event. Students from TE and BE actively participated and showcased their creativity and awareness. Total 23 groups showcased their projects. Final year projects were also put on display.

üIT department has taken initiative to start a Technical Wall Magazine: Tech- A- Peek in the A.Y. 2012-13.It highlights all latest technical, non-technical paper cuttings and articles. Total 6 students from TE IT are the active members of Tech- a Peek working under the guidance of Ms. Anagha Chaudhari, Technical Wall Magazine Incharge.

üIT department took initiative to develop Departmental E-Magazine named ”IT's Magic” in the A.Y. 2010-11 where staff & students achievements are highlighted along with all departmental events. This A.Y. 2012-13 SEM-I IT department launched 5th volume. It is co-ordinated by Ms. Anagha Chaudhari, E-Magazine Incharge with team of website committee members.

üInaugural function of Electronics and Telecommunication Students' Association (ETSA) for Academic year 2012-13 was organized on 10th Aug, 2012. Mr. Shirish Sebastian, a social worker associated with various NGOs was the Chief Guest of the function. The newly elected members of ETSA body were felicitated. The different committees under ETSA, viz the Website, Roboclub, Wall Magazine, Sports and Cultural committees were inaugurated on this occasion followed by an interactive and an entertaining stress-buster session by the chief guest.

üA Technical Poster Competition was organized under ETSA on 7th September 2012 for E & TC students. The competition which included informative and artistic posters, on topics ranging from GPS to UAVs, was judged by Dr. N.C. Jain and Mr. Rahate. The winners of the competition were Sayali Nadhe, Supriya Lakade, Priyanka Dhayarkar and Priyanka Shinde from TE E&TC. The event was coordinated by ETSA staff coordinators Mrs. Anjali Shrivastav and Mr. G.R.Rahate and well supported by all ETSA core committee members.

üMCA department organized a Group discussion activity for MCA 3rd year students on 28th July, 2012. Mr. Farooqui A.S. was invited to conduct the GDs of students. This activity was coordinated by Mr. Rajkamal Sangole.

üMESA celebrated 'Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas' on 23rd August 2012 in the premises of PCCOE. Street play 'USHA KAAL HOTA HOTA' was performed in the college premises by enthusiastic MESA members. The play was directed and written by Mr. Akash Thite (S.E.Div-B).

üMESA conducted a Robotics Workshop by STROBO Automation on 10th August 2012. The event was coordinated by staff coordinator Mr. A. A. Panchwadkar along with team MESA.102 students attended the demo lecture conducted by Mr. Daniel Chavan of STROBO Automation.

üTeachers day celebration: On the eve of Dr. Radhakrishnan's birthday, all the Departmental Student Associations of PCCOE celebrated Teachers' day in their department on 5th September, 2012 by gifting the faculty and staff member with roses and greetings as a token of love and respect and arranging various games for them.

Ganesh-Utsav 2012 at PCCOE

The Boys hostel celebrated the Ganesh festival 2012 from 19th Sep to 25th Sep 2012. The students have participated whole heartedly in the event and made it a grand success under the guidance of Mr. S.R Kasar, Rector, Boys Hostel.

PCCOE always pus its best possible efforts to improve the performance of students on technical as well as personal front and organizes parents meet every year twice a semester individually at departmental level. This semester, parents' meet was arranged on 17th August, 2012 by all departments. The meet initially started at combined level for all departments where Dr. A.M.Fulambarkar, Prof. A.M.Kurkure and all heads of Department informed the parents about the upcoming NBA accreditation process and explained the importance of accreditation from college as well as their wards perspective and later the parents proceeded towards individual departments.

üIn association with Samrudhi Jeevan foundation, Poona serological Blood Bank on 26th September 2012 with around 95 donors donating 175 blood bags to the Poona serological blood bank.

üGuest lecture series by eminent personalities on “Swatrantra Chalwal-Aajcha Bharat” was organized at Namdeo Hall, University of Pune on 14th August 2012 and ten students from PCCOE attended the same.

üPolice Mitra Training Program was organized at Police Ground, Shivaji Nagar on 5th September and 10th September 2012. Total 64 students from PCCOE were specially trained to face the problems like, traffic control, riot control, and disaster management. These students were given the duty to work at various locations in PCMC area and in and around Pune.

üInternational Literacy day was celebrated by the students of PCCOE with the Induction Program of NSS and Student Welfare on 12th September 2012. 150 students were present for the program.

NSS (CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILTY)

üFunds acquired from the PCMC election duty collection of the 180 NSS students was used to provide financial assistance for the cancer treatment of Mr. Vikas Pawar. üA Rural development program was implemented at Nagaj, Sangli from 30th June to 2nd July 2012. Around 25 students actively participated and contributed immensely by arranging guest lectures on Agriculture, Health and Science along with games and motivational videos for students and villagers.
