Presentation at Communications Regulatory Commission of Mongolia
NEXEDGE Advantages
• Spectrum Efficient
All NEXEDGE™ equipment operates in 25 & 12.5 kHz analog and 12.5 & 6.25 kHz NXDN™ digital modes – satisfying spectrum requirements today & tomorrow. The system doubles the capacity of the current channel allocation.
3
NEXEDGE Advantages
• Multi-Mode
All equipment supports NXDN™ trunking, NXDN™ conventional and FM conventional for mixed system use and graceful migration. Base units include FM conventional repeater control and external interface for conventional or LTR® trunking controllers. Subscriber units also include LTR® operation.
4
LTR trunking controllers
NEXEDGE Advantages
• Variety of Operation
NEXEDGE™ systems are configurable in traditional conventional, trunked and wide area trunked network operation modes. IP connectivity for NEXEDGE™ trunked sites provides scalability over existing LAN/WAN assets and services.
5
NEXEDGE Advantages
• Extended Range over FM
Extended Range over FM As RF signal strength weakens with distance, FM analog reception becomes increasingly noisy and intermittent. NXDN®'s low BERimproves reception in fringe areas, thereby increasing the effective range by as much as twenty percent over analog FM.

NEXEDGE Advantages
• Secure Voice
Kenwood NEXEDGE™ Digital System provides an inherent level of security via its digitally encoded NXDN™ air interface. These radios also include a digital voice scrambler for NXDN™ modes and an inversion scrambler for basic security in FM mode. The option port accommodates higher-level encryption modules for FM mode. Securing sensitive communications enhances personnel safety, reduced risk and liability exposure and secures facilities and operations for governments and corporations.

9
NEXEDGE Advantages
• Integrated data Services
NXDN™ digital modes, GPS location data can be sent for fleet management tracking and emergency location*. NXDN™ also supports status and text messaging features for routine canned and free-form text messaging. In FM mode, Kenwood’s FleetSync® protocol offers parallel GPS location, status, text and PTT ID services.
10
NEXEDGE Advantages
• System Management
The NEXEDGE™ KPG-110SM System Manager provides local or remote PSTN or LAN/WAN site provisioning, subscriber activity monitoring, firmware updates and call log retrieval. Call logs are downloadable in standard formats for traffic loading and security analysis.

• The NXDN™ Digital Advantage
In analog systems as the signal strength decreases in the coverage fringe areas, the amount of noise and dropouts increase. In NXDN™ digital systems the digitized audio stream is less susceptible to noise and the Forward Error Correction (FEC) detects and corrects errors before they are heard by the user.
A key element of NXDN™ air interface is the state of the art AMBE+2 vocoder which digitizes speech while retaining natural voice nuances, performs noise reduction, introduces FEC and compresses this voice data to accommodate land mobile radio data rates.
The NXDN™ air interface is capable of fitting into both narrow 12.5 kHz and very narrow 6.25 kHz bandwidth channels meeting the tightest of spectrum efficiency requirements.

3. NEXEDGE Operating Modes
Presentation at Communications Regulatory Commission of Mongolia
NEXEDGE Operating Modes
NEXEDGE™ systems support the following NXDN™ digital modes:
• Mixed mode with Analog Conventional radio• Digital Conventional• Digital Conventional IP Networks• Digital Trunked • Digital Trunked Wide Area IP Networks
16
NEXEDGE Operating Modes
• Digital Conventional Mode
• NEXEDGE™ Conventional mode NXR-700/800 base units include a 16 RAN capacity conventional.
• The 65,519 each, Group ID and Unit ID capacity adds group and individual selective calling capability beyond conventional analog.
• Mixed mode operation allows analog & NXDN™ conventional units to share the same RF channel.
17
NEXEDGE Operating Modes
• Digital Trunked Mode
• NEXEDGE™ trunked mode provides increased capacity, enhanced call capabilities, improved security and faster communications
• The system automatically assigns channels for faster efficient use of spectrum • 3,000 each Unit ID and Group ID per site capacity • Group and Individual calls enjoy complete privacy as other users • Emergency calls.
