Think Out of the“Buy or Build QMS Software” Box

The goal is to help you do what you are currently

doing, faster, better.

The Goal IS NOT to buy software.

Think about your people and culture

What are you trying to accomplish?

 What are the business benefits?

Develop short-term tactical objectives in the context

of a long-term plan (start with 2 or 3 areas)

No budget? Consider a SaaS offering

Value Proposition

Streamline operations - faster cycle time

 Improve responsiveness – simplify work

 Increase visibility – via notifications

 Minimize risk - less variation

Make better decisions – access to data

Reduce IT costs - less development time

Enforce governance – compliance & audit trail

Bottom Line – Reduce Risk and Save Money !!!

QMS General Requirements

• If you are the person that comes up with these

bizarre scenarios to “stump” the QMS software

salesperson, you are hurting the cause.

• What is “good enough” to get started?

• If you option is nothing, or XLS, some sort of multi-

user, relational database with basic functionality is a

great alternative

QMS Next Gen Technology Requirements

• Rapid web form development

• Intuitive and graphical workflow definition

• Integration with other applications (web services)

• Leverage email

• Minimum to no programming required

• Rapid updates / improvements

• Support mobile devices / tablets

• Low cost Software as a Service (SaaS)

Summary

It is about business and ROI, not just QMS

It is about you and your processes, not a vendor’s

application, their screens, etc.

Define what you want to do (your form)

How you want to do it (your process)

How you want to report and track (your reports)

It is about focus – pick 2 or 3 areas and save money!

It is about leveraging existing resources
