The Fallen Law Enforcement and Florida Sheriff’s As- sociation plates will be available in all tax collector offices by November 6, 2015 to be proudly displayed on Florida registered vehicles. The Fallen Law Enforcement plate was created by the Criminal Justice Academy class of 2014 at Pinellas Park High School in Largo, FL. The plate, memorializing fallen law enforcement officers, is $25 in addition to state registration fees. A portion of rev- enue generated from sales will go towards the Police and Kids Foundation, Inc. to invest in the operation of the foundation. More information can be found at www.policeandkids.com Founded in 1893, the Florida Sheriff’s Associa- tion is made up of 67 Sheriffs of Florida to support the needs of the state’s law enforcement community. The purchase of this $25 specialty tag, on top of regular registration fees, will be used to develop and provide advanced and specialized training for criminal justice officers. There were face painters, crafts, T-shirt sales, wooden toy-building from Home Depot (Shirley Carey and her volunteers), live music by Marty Stonely and Chris, photos with the Easter bunny by Daniel Kolbe of Southernmost Photography, and a huge egg hunt with nearly 9000 eggs hidden. My sincere thanks go out to the following people for making the event a success: Dennis Coleman for being the Easter Bunny! Mike Grattan for keeping count of all the visitors entering the farm. Dep. New Specialty Plates to Support Law Enforcement

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) is proud to announce two new specialty plates available now for purchase. The Fallen Law Enforcement and Florida Sheriff’s As-sociation plates will be available in all tax collector offices by November 6, 2015 to be proudly displayed on Florida registered vehicles.

The Fallen Law Enforcement plate was created by the Criminal Justice Academy class of 2014 at Pinellas Park High School in Largo, FL. The plate, memorializing fallen law enforcement officers, is $25 in addition to state registration fees. A portion of rev-enue generated from sales will go towards the Police and Kids Foundation, Inc. to invest in the operation of the foundation. More information can be found at www.policeandkids.com

There were face painters, crafts, T-shirt sales, wooden toy-building from Home Depot (Shirley Carey and her volunteers), live music by Marty Stonely and Chris, photos with the Easter bunny by Daniel Kolbe of Southernmost Photography, and a huge egg hunt with nearly 9000 eggs hidden. Easter at the farm was a huge success with 1,070 people attending, 9,000 Easter eggs distributed and donations of over $1,700.00. A Soup / Chili cookoff held March 9th at the Roth Building was a great success, raising $416 for the MARC House. Det. Barney Sajdak won the cooking challenge. Thanks to contest judges Maria Aguilair, Luis Garcia and Sylvia Murphy for helping out. Below, organizer Peggy Bryan with Captain Don Fanelli and Lt. Al Ramirez present the check to MARC Coordinator Corinne Triviski and one of MARC’s clients in the Upper Keys.

In response to a citizen complaint about trash “blowing” onto the highway, Sgt. Scott Ward and Deputy Ben Elmore spent some time picking up garbage at the 101 mile marker of the highway.

Lt. Al Ramirez, Det. Jaques Rozek and Capt. Corey Bryan hand over a check to MARC. The money was raised from their participation in a recent fund raiser.

Members of the Sheriff’s Traffic Enforcement Unit helped out teaching the Citizen’s Police Academy about traffic stops this week in the Lower Keys.

After receiving a citizen complaint, Deputy Freddy Rodriguez organized a clean up of this state owned lot on Big Pine Key. He utilized state road prison inmates and had two abandoned boats on trailers removed by Anchor Towing.

Explorers compete at Delegates conferenceOur three Explorer posts traveled to Brevard County this

past weekend to compete with other explorers from around the state in law enforcement related skills, including shooting and in a physical agility test. All three posts did very well, with Caileigh Lutz from Post 904 taking first place in semi-auto Tyro shooting competition and in the PAT test for women; David Wil-liams from Post 905 taking first place in Proficiency Reloading drills; and Angel Muino from post 906 taking first place in the PAT test for males. SRO Deputies Derick Velez and Will Schle-gelmilch went along as advisors to the group.
