• Created in 1990s, published as a working material in 1996

• Transformed into an electronic database in 2003

• Merged with EC HotLab Database in 2008.

• Casks information was added from EC HotLab database

In early 1980’s IAEA decided to create a directory of nuclear fuel cycle facilities.

Electronic database was created in 1980s.

A TECDOC was published in 1987 (TECDOC-408).

Directory was published two times as priced publication (1988 and 1996)

Web site was opened to publish NFCIS in 2001.

Database and the web site was restructured and updated starting from 2003.

It is available on the internet since 2001.

A TM was organized in 2007.

Under study-Assessment Formal feasibility or pre-feasibility studies or assessments are underway.

Planned A formal commitment has been made to build the facility or process line.

Siting-Design Site and/or design have been licensed.

Under Construction The facility or process line is currently being built.

CommissioningThe construction of the facility or process line has been completed and is under commissioning.

In Operation The facility or process line is currently operational.

Stand byThe facility or process line is not currently in operation but can be restarted in a relatively short time.

Refurbishment A major modification is underway in the facility or process line.

ShutdownThe facility or process line is not currently in operation and there are no plans to restart it.

DecommissioningThe facility or process line is currently under decommissioning. Dismantling and remediation work is included.

DecommissionedThe facility or process line is decommissioned and dismantled. The facility is not under regulatory control.

CancelledThe project has been cancelled completely during any stage before operation.

Deferred The project has been postponed indefinitely.

Not reported The status of the facility or process line is unknown or not reported.
