Mrs. George’s Art Class Newsletter
Dear Parents and Students,
I felt that it was important to give you a brief summary of what your student accomplished during art class so please read on to
learn more. Art class started with the students drawing with pencils in their sketchbooks. By starting each class with a sketchbook
activity the student’s creativity was sparked which lead to a more successful art class. The sketchbooks are also a fantastic way to
view the student’s growth throughout the semester.

After the sketchbook activity the students would work on the art project I had planned for them. Every project was
based on our unit plan. All of the lessons addressed the five Florida’s Visual Arts Standards which are: Critical Thinking and
Reflection, Skills, Techniques, and Processes, Organizational Structure, Historical and Global Connections, and Innovation,
Technology, and the Future. Some of these lessons were completed in a class period while others extended into multiple class
periods. No matter how long the lessons took the students created amazing works of art!

Art Activities
Art is taught progressively, starting at the level they are in basic skills of drawing. Each skill is meant to build on the previous skill in some way. Creativity, originality, neatness, design or composition, and expression are encouraged in all works of art. This class also teaches your child to be a responsible student. Please stress to your child the importance of coming prepared to class with materials. Also, students should pay attention to demonstrations given by the teacher. Participation is very important to create success in this class. Thank you all for raising such imaginative kids! Sincerely,
Neslihan George
