It’s not just a day. It’s an experience!
History Day @HCPSS “History Day is the very best example of an original history or social science research program. Students select an original topic, develop a thesis question, conduct historical research using both primary and secondary sources, and present their research to experts in a variety of formats. HCPSS sees National History Day as a capstone project for our students in both middle and high schools, and excellent preparation for college and career.”~ Dr. Mark J. Stout, Coordinator Secondary Social Studies & Advanced Programs
National History Day
GOAL: Present primary and secondary sources as well as original historical analysis, related to theme & it’s significance in history.
Theme: Exploration, Encounter, Exchange in History
●The theme is chosen for the broad application to world, national or state history and its relevance to ancient history or to the more recent past.
●The intentional selection of the theme for NHD is to provide an opportunity for students to push past the antiquated view of history as mere facts and dates and drill down into historical content to develop perspective and understanding.
