WHAT ARE THE ASPIRING FINANCE LEADERS REGIONAL NETWORKS?
The regional networks connect aspiring finance leaders (in person and virtually) and provide them with opportunities to take part in regional and national events, webinars and networking opportunities. There are four networks, one in each region as follows: North, Midlands &East, London and South.
The Networks Aim to:• support the career progression
of Aspiring NHS Finance Leaders who are professionally qualified accountants and currently working 2 or 3 levels below the most senior finance professional in their NHS organisation.
• enable Aspiring Finance Leaders as described above to develop a network of colleagues at a similar stage in their career and with similar career aspirations.
• connect Aspiring Finance Leaders with NHS system leaders, in particular NHSE/I Regional and National Directors.
• provide an inclusive talent management initiative that generates a talent pipeline and signposts towards the Aspiring Finance Leaders Talent Pool.
What is the difference between the Aspiring Finance Leaders NetworkS and the Finance Leaders National Talent Pool?The Aspiring Finance Leaders Networks are aimed at those 2 or 3 levels below the most senior finance professionals in their NHS organisations and will feed into the National Talent Pool. The National Talent Pool is made up of aspiring finance leaders across England who are ready now or the very near future to become finance directors and chief finance officers in the NHS.
Whilst membership to the networks is through self enrolment, the Pool is made up of 30 individuals who have been selected following a rigorous application process.
The networks’ aims are to develop individuals, generate a talent pipeline and feed into the National Talent Pool.
What will I gain from being a member of my regional network?The four regional networks will include learning and development opportunities to specifically support those in the networks, as well as the opportunity to meet at least twice a year with Regional NHSE/I Finance Directors.

HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER OF MY REGIONAL NETWORK?
In order to qualify to be part of your regional network, you must be able to answer yes to the following questions:
• I have professional qualified accountant status and am currently a member of a recognised accountancy institute who participates in CPD
• I would like to develop a senior leadership career in NHS Finance
• I am committed to building finance teams which reflect the diversity of the populations that we serve
• I am committed to developing others in their NHS Finance careers
• I am committed to actively developing relevant skills, knowledge and attributes of an NHS Finance Leader
• I am committed to learning from and with other NHS Finance professionals through active engagement in regional and national personal development programmes and networks such as FSD, FFF, HFMA
