Emme Hoy

“NIDA Open’s Writers Studio has put me into contact with inspirational, supportive mentors and peers that will be friends for life. During the first six months of the Studio I managed to generate a rough draft of my first play, and now in my second semester I am working on a TV pilot.

The Studio has given me a safe environment to share work, to gain confidence in my writing and weekly motivation to write and keep writing. The industry advice and experience of our teachers has helped me realise the type of writer I’d like to be, and has encouraged me to pursue extracurricular writing as I finish my BA at UNSW.

I am currently working on the development of a web series, as well as polishing and submitting my writing for stage. From now on, I’m going to take the skills, determination and discipline I’ve gained during the course and keep making my own opportunities, submitting writing and learning.”
