ADJUSTING THE LIGHTS

Night-Lite PRO II™ 50/60 Hz

• Before raising the tower, position the lights for optimal coverage of the area to be illuminated.

• For maximum illumination, fixtures should be positioned with the lens 10°-20° below the horizon (as shown) and spread out as required to illuminate the area.

• If lens is not tipped down slightly, the are lit will not be as great since some of the light will be projected above the horizon.

FUEL REQUIREMENTS

• Use a clean No. 2 diesel fuel oil (SAE J313 JUN87) according to ASTM D975

• Do not use alternative fuels because their quality is unknown and they may be inferior and damage the engine

• Do not use kerosene – it has a very low cetane rating and will adversely affect the engine

• Refer to the CAT, Kubota, or Kohler engine operator’s manual (included in the literature packet with your light tower) for more detailed requirements

MANUAL WINCH MAINTENANCE

• The following procedures should be performed annually (or more frequently under adverse operating conditions):

• Gears and brushings of the winch must be kept lubricated – apply a thin film of grease to the gear and oil the brushings as needed

• The ratchet pawl pivot point must be kept lubricated with a thin oil

• do NOT get oil or grease on the friction discs

GENERATOR – CAPACITOR EXCITATION | VOLTAGE REGULATION

• A single capacitor is used to regulate the voltage within 5% of the rated load

• Use extreme caution when handling capacitors – the capacitor will still contain high voltage even after the engine has stopped operating

• Always discharge the capacitor before handling:• Use an insulated conductor (jumper wire) or a screwdriver with an

insulated handle to short across the capacitor terminals, and discharge the capacitor prior to handling

Page 48: NIGHT LITE PRO II - TRAINING

SERVICE, MAINTENANCE, & TROUBLESHOOTINGNight-Lite PRO II™ 50/60 Hz

GENERATOR MAINTENANCE – PERIODIC INSPECTION

• Clean and inspect generator after every 200 hours of normal operating time

• If the generator is housed in a harsh environment, it is advisable to clean and inspect the unit more frequently

• If dirt and grease is allowed to build up, the generator will run hotter, lose efficiency, and reduce the life of the generator

Page 49: NIGHT LITE PRO II - TRAINING

SERVICE, MAINTENANCE, & TROUBLESHOOTINGNight-Lite PRO II™ 50/60 Hz

GENERATOR MAINTENANCE – CLEANING

• Remove all dust, dirt, oil, and grease build up from external surfaces

• Use a low pressure air hose (25 PSI maximum) to blow dirt and grease from the internal components through the fan opening

• Clean inside the control box

• Check for loose or damaged lead wires and loose components mounted in the box

GENERATOR TROUBLESHOOTING – MARATHON GENERATOR

• Visual examination:

• Look for obvious damages such as:• charred windings• pinched wires• cracked insulation• loose terminal lugs, etc.

• All connections should be fastened securely

• Check the operating speed and see that the unit has been reassembled and reconnected correctly
