Through a vivid, immersive new museum experience, the New NixonLibrary—scheduled to open on October 14, 2016—will give visitors ofall ages the memorable opportunity to discover what Richard Nixon didfor our country.

Join us in celebrating this milestone for President Nixon’s Libraryand Foundation.

T his year marks the 100th birthday of the National Park Service, an organization I hadthe privilege of leading. It’s hard to believe

that our President would be older than the NPS, butthat’s a fact.

When President Nixon appointed me as the 8thNPS Director, news traveled fast, but the controversyarrived before I did. I took on the role with onemajor marching order, to close the VIP houses usedin excess by senators and congressmen.

It was a tough job, but to be the caretaker of America’s treasures bothGod-given and man-made was the most rewarding role in government. We put parks in urban areas, large portions of A laskan wilderness onhold, shed light on lesser-known facilities and began planning the bicen-tennial of our Constitution.

Happy 100th birthday to “America’s Best Idea.” I thank you, Mr.President for giving me the opportunity to be a part of it all.

Richard Nixon continually called for individuals to “get involved in a cause bigger thanthemselves.” The New Nixon Library, and its educational programming, will providethat opportunity. By advancing the principles President Nixon embodied throughout

his career, we challenge growing civic disengagement and demonstrate the importance ofgreater involvement in the community, state, and country.

We’ve raised $19 million to completely renovate the Nixon Library and develop educationalprograms for civic engagement — our goal is $25 million. We invite your support as we takeon this important mission.

“This campaign is not about erecting monuments

to the past, but about learning from our history

and stimulating young people to shape a better future.”
