The Douglas W. Bradbury Award recognizes a member of the Clemson faculty "who has made outstanding contributions to the Calhoun Honors College." If you're a senior by hours, or planning to graduate on or before December 2016, you are eligible to nominate your favorite professor for this prestigious award.
In selecting the Bradbury Award winner, the Calhoun Honors Col-lege Committee looks for involvement in the development and teaching of honors courses; involvement as Honors thesis/project advisor; service on departmental, collegiate and/or university hon-ors committees; and service to Honors students as a mentor/advisor.
The nominating process is a little complicated, so you might want to enlist the help of your potential nominee's department chair, who can offer advice and help facilitate matters, or even serve as a co-nominator (I am happy to help also if you have questions about the process). Nominators are expected to write a letter on behalf of their candidate, and to make sure that the nominee is aware of what materials need to be submitted to his or her Dean's office by
the February 26, 2016 deadline.

The Dixon Global Policy Scholars Program is now accepting applications from all Honors freshmen and sophomores (students who will be graduating May 2018 or
later).
Dixon GPS is designed to help top Honors freshmen and sophomores deepen their understanding of global policy, economics, politics, culture, science, technology and the arts, and to evaluate and develop their opportunities for success in prestigious scholarship competitions, such as the Rhodes, Marshall, and Truman Scholarships, and in applications for premier graduate and professional schools.
The Dixon GPS students will travel to Paris, France and Berlin, Germany in May 2016 for a study program (all expenses paid except for 1 Clemson credit hour and incidental expenses), and will take specialized courses in Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 dealing with politics, economics, philosophy, and public policy. Other features of the program include topical discussion groups and individualized mentoring.
This program is limited to 12 students per year. Freshmen and sophomores from all majors are encouraged to apply. The application and a letter of support from a
faculty member is due Wednesday, January 20th.
There will be information sessions about Dixon GPS on Tuesday, January12th at 5pm in the Holmes Hall Conference Room and on Thursday, January 14th at 12:30pm in the Holmes Hall Multipurpose Room.

Tiger Talks, is a
pilot program
designed to
take students
through a 4-
week dialogue
experience in
order to help
them develop
in critical think-
ing, having
diverse conver-
sations, and
bettering their
relationship
with their
peers, the cam-
pus, the com-
munity and the
world.
The personal and professional development of students is a cornerstone of the higher education process. The pur-pose of Tiger Talks is to help students develop in these areas by 1) engaging in reflection and introspection re-garding social identity related issues, 2) providing an op-portunity for students to learn and practice skills that will help them better engage with other members of the Clem-son Community; and 3) developing critical thinking skills.
Students who participate in the Tiger Talks program will be able to:
Identify important aspects of their personal backgrounds
Articulate the value of understanding different perspectives
Describe and demonstrate principles of positive social engage-ment in communication with others
Utilize specific communication tools in order to engage in produc-tive conversations on difficult topics
Students will accomplish this through completion of a 4-week dialogue experience during which they will engage with peers from diverse backgrounds, learn more about the use of dialogue as an effective method of communica-tion, and practice those skills with their peers. Students will meet once a week for 2 hours throughout the 4-week experience. During that time they will be introduced to theoretical concepts, historical issues, as well as gain ally-ship skills to create a more inclusive community.
We have three sessions set aside for the Spring semester. Students who wish to participate will need to select a meeting time during one of these four week periods. Com-pletion requires attendance of all four consecutive ses-sions, active participation, and engagement in the content of the session. We do not ask that all students agree with the content. In fact, we welcome diverse perspectives. But we do ask that all students come willing to engage in the conversation. Session opportunities for the Spring are listed below. Students who are interested need to email Becky Morgan at [email protected] by Wednesday, January 13th with their desired session date/time.
Session 1: week of 1/18-2/8
