Automation is now a major factor in modern lab management where NMR has become a fully integrated analysis tool. With its long history of pioneering automated NMR sample handling Bruker’s experience in meeting the challenge of automating this diverse, complex technique is unmatched.

Today Bruker offers a comprehensive portfolio of solutions designed to meet the varying needs of modern NMR spectroscopists. From highly diverse academic service environments with differing sample types and geometries, to bio-NMR research labs with challenging sample temperature needs, to high-throughput precision sample handling for large industrial compound collections, Bruker has developed the ideal solution.

Open AccessOpen access NMR laboratories are now increasingly common, not only in industry but also for academic service labs, where easy and safe access for all users is critical, together with uncomplicated operation to facilitate new users.

SampleCase moves the classical point of access for NMR systems from the top to the side at desk height, and its 24 random access positions provide ample flexibility and ease of use.

Academic TeachingHighly flexible, robust and cost-efficient solutions are normally required in academic teaching labs where a wide variety of different NMR samples (standard tubes, Shigemi tubes, J-Young tubes etc.) are used by multiple students.

Ideal for such multi-faceted educational environments, the Fourier 300 system may be equipped with a SampleXpress Lite sample changer that features a 16 sample carousel for almost any tube type in a spinner, with random access to any position.

Maximizing workflow

Centralized Analytical ServicesManaged service laboratories in industry, academia or dedicated analytical service providers often face very diverse NMR tasks. 100 routine samples per day is not uncommon and these often include specialty samples such as air-sensitive material or samples in Shigemi tubes. SampleXpress delivers the required flexibility with an optimum 60 sample position cartridge that automatically submits and, through optional barcode control, tracks samples identification.

Heavy Duty AutomationToday many NMR labs face the need to maximize the use of their NMR instrumentation. This is often paired with the requirement to support routine open-access applications with high-throughput batch analyses. For example, labs which support standard synthetic chemistry must now also support parallel synthesis or compound management analytics at the same time.

In its standard configuration SampleJet provides 5 positions for MTP-type tube-racks that hold 96 sample tubes each, plus, at the same time, an additional 96 positions for submitting single open access samples – even without spinners. Individual sample and whole rack identification comes as standard using 1D and 2D barcodes.

For biological applications like protein ligand screening, or for metabonomic studies, a sample cooling option is also available.

Flexible, Adaptable, Usable

Highly configurable, hard- and software building blocks enable users to seamlessly integrate their NMR systems into any analysis workflow, from sample preparation through experiment to result generation and report production. All Bruker sample changers have maximum flexibility in mind. Users can quickly switch from automatic to manual handling, reconfigure from liquid to solid sampling effortlessly, and easily operate different sample changers within the same lab thanks to the well-proven user interface IconNMR, which comes as standard.
