Network management system requirements
Purpose
The purpose of this section is to provide an overview of the network management system
requirements to install the network management client software.
Overview
The Network Services Platform (NSP) server software is installed on the network
management server.
The Sun Management Center (SunMC) client is associated with the SUN OS (Solaris)
installed on the network management servers. To ensure that the SunMC is the correct
version for the network management server OS, install the SunMC client software. The
SunMC client software is provided with the network management system installation or
in the upgrade DVDs. See “Installing the SunMC console” (p. 3-10) for details.
Ensure that the network management servers are installed and fully operational before
adding new client platforms.
Note: The network management server hardware and software are installed by the
Alcatel-Lucent installation engineers.

Installing JRE with static configuration
Purpose
This procedure should be executed to install Java JRE with static configuration.
Note: It is necessary to install JRE 1.7.0_15 version to be supported in UA08.1 while
working with v9.1 WMS NSP GUI simultaneously.
Overview
JRE can be installed in the following configurations:
• Patch-in-place configuration: The patch-in-place configuration means that when a
given version of the JRE is installed on the PC client, any further updates of the same
JRE type will replace the existing JRE patch.
• Static configuration: The static configuration means that when Java updates are
installed on the PC client, the static configuration-enabled JRE version is no longer
replaced by the new update. The new updates will be installed in a separate directory;
thereby, retaining the specific static configuration-enabled JRE.
Note: The default JRE version will be installed with patch-in-place configuration,
which means the future JRE upgrades or installations will replace this version of the
JRE.
Procedure
To install JRE with static configuration, perform the following steps:
...................................................................................................................................................................................................
1 Download and save the JRE installer from http://<WMS_primary_main_server_hostname
or IP_address>:8080/NSP/ on the desktop. For example, http://uctfee3q.vxlabwcdma.

5 5Cygwin configuration
Overview
Purpose
The purpose of this chapter is to describe the necessary steps required to be performed on
any client that is intended to run WMS X11 windows. For this purpose, a third party X11
software (known as X server) is required to be installed on the client host. The procedure
describes installation of the well-known X servers: Cygwin/X (http://www.cygwin.com).
Any of the above mentioned X server needs to be manually launched prior to the launch
of the NSP client.
Prerequisites
Ensure that Cygwin is installed on the PC.
Note:
• Alcatel-Lucent complies with Cygwin, but does not provide this software
• The WMS supports Cygwin 1.5 or later versions
