Digital India program is integral in consummating digital empowerment of citizens by ensuring

last mile connectivity through bolstering digital infrastructure at various levels. Besides this, the

program ensures that people would have a seamless access to various citizen-centric services

online and through mobile platforms besides creation of a suitable cyber security

eco-system in the country, in tune with a globally networked environment. Each of the

pillars of Digital India conform to the overarching philosophy of ensuring that the fruits of

e-governance movement can be directly reaped by the common man at the grass root level.

The Administration and NIC have a greater role to play in achieving this by catalyzingand leveraging the technological outreach across the district.

This is a transformative agenda and NIC has a big role in several of these. Let us all prepare for

meeting the new requirement. I wish you all the success and hope that your focused and

sustained efforts will continue to leverage e-Governance at all levels.

n the occasion of Digital India Week , it gives me immense pleasure to launch this

edition  of 'eGovernance@Kupwara'. The issue focusses on the  Digital India

Activities' performed  in District Kupwara. Over the years, e-Governance has

come to be looked upon as a key enabler for good governance. In the

endeavour to bridge the digital divide between the government and the citizens,

numerous initiatives have been conceptualized and initiated.

The need of the hour is to think beyond conventions for further strengthening the premise of

Digital India and take it to the grass root level for transforming the country into knowledge

economy, thus ensuring digital empowerment of every citizen and easy and equitable access todigital infrastructure.

    through the use of information

    technology, the Government of

    India has launched the Digital

    India programme with the

vision to transform India into adigitally empowered society

    and knowledge economy

    The Digital India programme is

    centred on three key vision

    areas:

    Citizens

    Digital Empowerment of

    Egovernance initiatives in

    India took a broader

    dimension in the mid

    1990s  for wider sectoral

    applications with emphasis

It has been felt that a lot more

    thrust is required to ensure

    e-Governance in the country promote

inclusive growth that covers electronicservices, products, devices and job

    opportunities. Moreover, electronic

manufacturing in the country needs to

    be strengthened.COMPONENTS

In order to transform the entire

    ecosystem of public services through

the use of information technology, the

Government of India has launched the

Digital India programme with the vision

to transform India into a digitally

    empowered society and knowledge

    economy.

      • Delivering services digitall

    • Digital literacy

      • The creation of digital

    Digital India has three

     We want to have

    one mission and

    target: Take the

    nation forward -

    Digitally, andEconomically

    core components. These

    include:

    Shri Narendra ModiHon'ble Prime

    Minister of India

    on citizen-centric services. However,

these projects could make less than the

desired impact due to their limited

features. They clearly pointed towards the

     need for a more comprehensive

    planning and implementation for the

infrastructure required to be put in place,

     interoperability issues to be addressed,

etc. to establish a more connected
