‘MY MASTERPIECE EXHIBITION’

Thank you to everyone who came along to our exhibition! The children should be very

proud of their beautiful pieces, we certainly are. It was wonderful to see so many

people there to support the children.

A huge Thank you to Paul, from My Masterpiece, for framing and displaying the artwork

for us. Thank you to the PTA for helping throughout the process and Ola, for working

with the children and making the arrangements. Fantastic effort from everyone

involved!

Irlam & Cadishead In Bloom 2019 As part of Irlam & Cadishead In Bloom, Irlam Rotary Club

delivered this stunning planter to us last week, along with

compost and plants to fill it.

You may have noticed lots of colourful planters appearing

along Liverpool Road, which is also thanks to Irlam Rotary

Club.

A group of our Year 3 pupils enjoyed planting the flowers on

Wednesday afternoon. The finished planter is now on display

near our front gates.

Thank you to the Rotary Club of Irlam, Irlam in Bloom and the

National Lottery fund for making this possible.

GARDENING CLUB

Year 1 were working on Peter Rabbit as a part of their

topic last term. Last week the children were harvesting

the radishes that we have planted in our "allotment" at

school.

The produce was taken into the school kitchen, washed

and prepared for our lunchtime salad bar, so that

everyone could have the opportunity to try them. The

children had great fun!

Potato Harvesting

On a rainy June 11th, a group of pupils

helped to harvest our potato crop, which was grown as

part of the national competition held by the Agriculture

and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) promotion.

As in previous years that we have taken part, we are

sent a kit that contains seed potatoes and growing bags,

which we plant up in March.

You may remember that last year we won the Regional

prize for the largest crop, unfortunately, due to the

weather conditions, we were not quite as successful.

None the less, the children had a wonderful time finding potatoes in the large pile of soil and we still

managed a decent crop, which was boosted by Mrs Pendlebury’s home grown effort. The harvested

potatoes were used in the Schools Salad Bar, for the children to enjoy.

JAGTAG

On Monday 17th June, our JagTag

afterschool club visited Chapelford

Village Primary School, for a friendly

JagTag tournament. Our team played

2 games of twenty minutes and

showed great perseverance against

teams who have been playing the

sport for much longer. There was some

great tactical play and special

mentions must go to Eddie for his

superb quarter back skills and to Lara

and Hannah for their great runs to

receive the long balls.

IRLAM IN BLOOM BILLBOARD COMPETITION

We had a fantastic amount of beautifully presented entries to the Irlam In Bloom Billboard

Competition. Well done to everyone who entered.

A massive congratulations to Maisie, in Year 4, who won the competition this year!

There were lots of entries from all schools in the area, so we were overjoyed to be notified that

the judges decided that Maisies's design was the winning entry.

Her entry can be seen displayed on the giant billboard near Automech Ltd, Cadishead. Maisie,

along with 3 of our other pupils, who entered brilliant designs, were invited along to an

unveiling!

A big thank you to Irlam and Cadishead Rotary Club for organising the competition and

providing prizes. Thanks also to Hamilton Davies for financing the billboard.

I’m sure you’ll agree that the art work looks fabulous.

SUMMER FAIR

What a fantastic turn out for our Summer Fair on Wednesday! Thank you to everyone

who came along to support the school. Thankfully the weather held out for us and we

were able to enjoy some fantastic outdoor activities as well as the indoor stalls,

photobooth etc. Thank you again, to our fantastic Friends of Fiddlers Lane PTA and Ola,

our Parent Link Coordinator, for organising and running the event.

LATES

Please support our school by ensuring your child is on time everyday, in school by 8.55am. Persistent late-

ness has a negative impact on a child’s learning and is extremely disruptive to teachers when they have

to deal with late children. Please remember, if your child is late once within a week he/she will spend Fri-

day lunchtime in detention with Ms Cooper. Thank you.
