This is an important part of PGA making a responsible choice that both protect the larger community and protects our members. Given that we have canceled four meetings, two demonstrations and the workshop, out of fairness, we will reduce the annual PGA membership fee to $20 for 2020-2021. Of course, members can opt to pay the full $40. However, we want to provide the option of paying $20. The plan for now is to have a board meeting and member meeting in September as usual. No demonstrations have been scheduled yet. We will look at the best process to elect officers at the September board and member meetings. We will also begin to arrange for demonstrations and the annual workshops in April or May 2021. We will have more clarity regarding the progression of the Covid pandemic by then. We are also looking for creative ways to keep PGA members active and engaged with PGA while we are socially distancing ourselves. We look forward to any suggestions you may have to do that. One idea a board member proposed was for members to share the art they are creating during the stay home and be safe period by email. There was also a suggestion to set us a FB page to do the same. If people are interested, I can do that. However, for now, I suggest that people send photos of their art work to everyone. You can do this by clicking Reply to this email attaching your photos and then clicking send. I will start a couple sculptures I have recently completed. I will also forward photos of paintings from Denise McDonald. When you send out your photos, it would be nice to have a lit- tle description. Liz has graciously agreed to do newsletters for May/June featuring everyones covid hiatus art photos. I anticipate that many people will still continue to restrict their travels and continue with social distancing even after the stay at home order is lifted. I certainly plan to. Given that, I propose that we email our art to each other throughout the sum- mer. It is such a nice way to stay connected and be inspired. PGA is an important part of our lives. It is a way to be inspired, to learn and grow as artists, and to be in community with others who love to paint, sculpt, arrange, assemble and photography. In time, we will be back to having our monthly meetings, sharing food at pot- lucks and listening to dynamic demonstrations and being inspired by sharing our art works. I look forward to being with everyone again in September. Lizard on a RockCedar. I really like lizards. I especially like lizards as they show up in unusual places and habitats. I also enjoy carving cedar. Interesngly, this started as a large disk. Slowly, as I kept looking at shape and form and the cedar , a lizard emerged…..Jim Anderson

Jim Anderson...PGA Presidents Message

With the uncertainty of the Covid 19 pandemic the PGA board has decided that it is prudent to cancel PGA meet-

ings for May and June, including the member workshop. This is an important part of PGA making a responsible

choice that both protect the larger community and protects our members.

Given that we have canceled four meetings, two demonstrations and the workshop, out of fairness, we will reduce

the annual PGA membership fee to $20 for 2020-2021. Of course, members can opt to pay the full $40. However,

we want to provide the option of paying $20.

The plan for now is to have a board meeting and member meeting in September as usual. No

demonstrations have been scheduled yet. We will look at the best process to elect officers at the

September board and member meetings. We will also begin to arrange for demonstrations and the

annual workshops in April or May 2021. We will have more clarity regarding the progression of

the Covid pandemic by then.

We are also looking for creative ways to keep PGA members active and engaged with PGA while

we are socially distancing ourselves. We look forward to any suggestions you may have to do that.

One idea a board member proposed was for members to share the art they are creating during the

stay home and be safe period by email. There was also a suggestion to set us a FB page to do the

same. If people are interested, I can do that. However, for now, I suggest that people send photos of their art work

to everyone.

You can do this by clicking Reply to this email attaching your photos and then

clicking send. I will start a couple

sculptures I have recently completed. I will also forward photos of paintings from

Denise McDonald. When you send out your photos, it would be nice to have a lit-

tle description. Liz has graciously agreed to do newsletters for May/June featuring

everyone’s covid hiatus art photos. I anticipate that many people will still continue to restrict their travels and continue

with social distancing even after the stay at home order is lifted. I certainly plan

to. Given that, I propose that we email our art to each other throughout the sum-

mer. It is such a nice way to stay connected and be inspired.

PGA is an important part of our lives. It is a way to be inspired, to

learn and grow as artists, and to be in community with others who

love to paint, sculpt, arrange, assemble and photography. In time,

we will be back to having our monthly meetings, sharing food at pot-

lucks and listening to dynamic demonstrations and being inspired by

sharing our art works. I look forward to being

with everyone again in September.

“Lizard on a Rock” Cedar.

I really like lizards. I especially like lizards as

they show up in unusual places and habitats.

I also enjoy carving cedar. Interestingly, this

started as a large disk. Slowly, as I kept

looking at shape and form and the cedar ,

a lizard emerged…..Jim Anderson

During this time, covid 19 pandemic

we each struggle with and are/or recover-

ing from health challenges, many dealing with losses, be it

family/friends or ? Let us know….not after the fact. Do not worry about tomorrow,

for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Remembering past PGA members who have passed away, a

gift, if you got to know any one of them and their art…..

Memories are a doorway to the past and the more one

treasures the memories, the wider the door will open……

“Bird “ - walnut on

how I cleverly put it

on a stand that can

be hung on a wall.

This started out as

an abstract piece,

however, overtime

a rather strange

and abstract bird

emerged….
