Course Objective

This course is specially designed for the general dentists who would like to incorporate implants into their daily practice. By delivering a step-by-step curriculum with hands-on practice and one-on-one live surgeries, you will learn how to recognize the essential indications, formulate treatment plans, and insert as well as restore basic single-tooth implants. Dr. Firdaus Hanapiah BDS(Otago) MSc(Lon) FICOI FDSRCS(Eng.)

Dr. Firdaus Hanapiah graduated from University of Otago, New Zealand in 1990. He then returned to Malaysia to take up position as a clinical tutor at the Dept. of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Malaya. In 1993 he then joined the Eastman Dental Hospital, University College London where he was a part time honorary senior house o�cer. In1996 he completed an MSc in Oral Surgery from the Eastman and was also awarded the Fellowship in Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeon, England. He then once again returned to Malaysia to take a position as a lecturer at the Dept. of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Malaya. In 2005 he was awarded the Fellowship of the International Congress of Implantologist. He is a member of The International Team for Implantology (ITI). He is now the consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon based at the Selangor Medical Centre, Shah Alam, Selangor. Besides that he is the head clinician for the Firdaus, Sharina Dental Clinics as well as the Bangsar Dental Specialist Centre in the Klang valley. He is also the current president of the Malaysian Oral Implant Association.

Dr. Jeanette ChuaDr. Jeanette Chua completed her specialty training in Advanced Periodontology and Implant Surgery and obtained a Master degree in Advanced Periodontology at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry (LLUSD), California, USA. Her BDSc degree was from The University of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. She also completed a Master in Applied Commerce from the same University while working in private practice and serving as Secretary of the Victorian Branch for the Australian Society of Implant Dentistry. She is currently serving as part time Assistant Professor in the Advanced Periodontology Department at LLUSD and she also maintains a private practice limited to Periodontology and Implant Surgery in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.

Dr Thomas Abraham graduated from College of Dental Surgery in Manipal and went on to do his Masters in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He also did his FDSRCS & FFDRCSI from the Royal College of Surgeons England and Ireland. He worked in numerous maxillofacial units in Wales, England and Scotland before returning back to Malaysia to work for the Ministry of Health. He also obtained his Membership in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow. He is currently working in the Dept of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Klang. His �eld of interest are Head & neck Oncology, Implantology and Maxillofacial reconstructive surgery to name a few. He is actively involved in Oral Cancer Research, He has been a circuit speaker for the ICCDE and the APDF and was also invited to speak for Nobel Biocare during the World tour at Hong Kong in 2006 and World Conference at Las Vegas in 2007. He currently runs the Nobel Biocare Mentorship programme for Dental surgeons in Malaysia. He has a few publications in International journals and he was the Publication secretary for the MDA and the editor for Malaysian Dental Journal. He was also until recently the Chairman on Commission of Oral Diseases, for Asia Paci�c Dental Federation.
