Welcome Back Nobles!
Class Schedules & Adjustments
Summer registration took place the week of August 3rd, 2015. Students had the
opportunity to pre-order their yearbook, ASB card, Noble Gear, etc. as well as take
their ID picture and pick up their tentative fall schedule. If your child was not able to
attend the registration dates, their registration took place the first week of school.
Adjustments to a student’s schedule of classes were made for the following reasons
only: 1. student did not receive a required grade-level course; or 2. student does not
have a minimum of 5 classes. We cannot honor requests for a change of teacher or a
change of period.

Booster Clubs & Parent Organizations
Parent groups include: ELAC, School Site Council, PTSA (Parent/Teacher/Student Association), Football Boosters, Regiment Boosters, and Choir Boosters. Please contact the principal’s secretary for more information.
Campus Visitors
Only persons having official business on the Nogales High School campus are permitted. We ask that parents not walk on campus and into classrooms because it disrupts the educational process. Please make arrangements ahead of time with teachers you wish to see. Everyone must obtain a visitor’s pass with campus security at the entrance gate.
Medical-Safety Procedures
Students attending school with sutures, splints, casts, crutches, brace(s), or a wheelchair must have a licensed health care provider’s written permission. The permission must state the date of student return and the need for assistive device. The student must comply with any safety procedures required by the school administration and health services personnel.
Medication Policy
Medication that your teen needs to take during the school day must be left in the health office. A physician must sign a consent form (obtained from the health office) stating the name of the medication and how it should be dispensed. The parent/guardian also needs to sign the form. Student on daily medication for critical health problems (diabetes, epilepsy, etc.) should leave a 3-day supply of the medication in the health office as a safeguard against a possible disaster during school hours when your teen may not be able to go home.
Messages/Drop Off Items
In an effort not to disrupt the educational process of students, we only deliver messages in the event of serious emergencies. Forgotten lunches, keys, errands, unable to pick-up students from school, etc., do not qualify as emergencies. In addition, we do not deliver books, homework, food, etc. to students nor do we accept balloons or flower deliveries.
Senior Sign-Outs
To safeguard students’ graduation and grade point averages, we require a parent conference and a parent signature prior to allowing an 18-year old student to sign him/herself out of school. For more information, please contact Dr. Tamanaha at (626) 965-3437.
Student Charges
Students are required to return all textbooks and other equipment issued to them. Lost books and other bills should be paid before the new semester begins. Students may not receive diplomas or transcripts until all obligations are paid. Students may obtain a list of their charges in the ASB office.
Textbooks
Students are responsible for textbooks. Should a student lose or damage a textbook, he/she must pay for the textbook. We do not accept replacement books bought from outside vendors in place of a lost textbook. Parents please do not buy a textbook from the Internet or anywhere else to replace a school-issued book. Each student has a Destiny account which tracks all books checked out to a student through the library or textbook room.
Transportation
Please call the Transportation Department at (626) 965-5719 to make arrangements for bus passes or if you have any questions regarding the bus schedule.
Electronic Devices The Board of Education acknowledges the importance of electronic communication between students and parents, particularly in school wide emergency situations. Further, the district recognizes that instructional time is precious and must be protected from unnecessary disruption. Students may possess (but not activate) any electronic signaling device that operates through the transmission or receipt of radio waves, including but not limited to pagers and cellular phones, while the students are on campus, attending school-sponsored activities or while under the supervision and control of school district employees. Camera phones are prohibited in the rest rooms and boys and girls locker rooms. In addition, iPods, MP3 and CD players are not allowed at school. These items are subject to confiscation. The school assumes NO liability for electronic devices brought on school grounds. Students may NOT wear earbuds at anytime on campus. Parents, we ask for your cooperation to ensure that your child adheres to these rules.
BP5131 regarding Electronica Signaling Devices states: Such devices shall be deactivated and their use strictly prohibited on campus during the regular school day except during an emergency affecting the school or community. Students will be subject to school discipline for failure to comply with this policy. Phones that ring during class will be confiscated. No students will be prohibited from possessing or using an electronic signaling device that is determined by a licensed physician/surgeon to be essential for the health of the pupil. In permitting student possession of such devices, the district assumes no liability for the
loss of the device or its misuse by another person.

Extracurricular Eligibility Rowland Unified School District maintains a grade point average (GPA)
requirement for extracurricular activities. To be eligible for athletics, band, choir, drama, pep, or ASB a 2.0 GPA or a “C” average must be maintained.
9-12th grade students who fail to maintain a 2.0 GPA will be placed on academic
probation during the following grading period and must attend instructional support opportunities to improve academic performance. If GPA continues below a 2.0 into the following reporting period, a student will be deemed ineligible to participate in extracurricular activities. Students will not be granted more than one probationary
period each semester.

Here at Nogales High School we offer multi-level competitive athletic program. Athletics is an integral part of our school’s total educational program. There is an importance on sportsmanship, team spirit and leadership. Students are able to participate in a variety of sports during the school year in all three seasons. We have discovered that students who become involved in athletics experience more academic success, feel more connected to the school, develop character, and discipline.
