Medical devicesOperation of radio transmitting equipment, including wireless phones, may interfere withthe function of inadequately protectedmedical devices. Consult a physician or themanufacturer of the medical device todetermine whether they are adequatelyshielded from external radio frequencyenergy.

Implanted medical devicesManufacturers of medical devices recommenda minimum separation of 15.3 centimetres (6inches) between a wireless device and animplanted medical device, such as apacemaker or implanted cardioverterdefibrillator, to avoid potential interferencewith the medical device. Persons who havesuch devices should:• Always keep the wireless device morethan 15.3 centimetres (6 inches) from themedical device.• Not carry the wireless device in a breastpocket.• Hold the wireless device to the earopposite the medical device.• Turn the wireless device off if there is anyreason to suspect that interference is takingplace.• Follow the manufacturer directions forthe implanted medical device.

If you have any questions about using yourwireless device with an implanted medicaldevice, consult your health care provider.

Hearing

Warning: When you use the headset, your ability to hear outside sounds may beaffected. Do not use the headset where it canendanger your safety.

Some wireless devices may interfere withsome hearing aids.

Operating environmentThis device meets radio frequency exposureguidelines in the normal use position at theear or at least 1.5 centimetre (5/8 inch) awayfrom the body. Any carry case, belt clip, orholder for body-worn operation should notcontain metal and should position the devicethe above-stated distance from your body.

To send data files or messages requires aquality connection to the network. Data filesor messages may be delayed until such aconnection is available. Follow the separationdistance instructions until the transmission iscompleted.

VehiclesRadio signals may affect improperly installedor inadequately shielded electronic systems inmotor vehicles such as electronic fuelinjection, electronic antilock braking, electronic speed control, and air bag systems. For more information, check with themanufacturer of your vehicle or its equipment.

Only qualified personnel should install thedevice in a vehicle. Faulty installation orservice may be dangerous and may invalidateyour warranty. Check regularly that allwireless device equipment in your vehicle ismounted and operating properly. Do not storeor carry flammable liquids, gases, or explosivematerials in the same compartment as thedevice, its parts, or accessories. Rememberthat air bags inflate with great force. Do notplace your device or accessories in the air bagdeployment area.

Potentially explosive environmentsSwitch off your device in any area with apotentially explosive atmosphere, forexample near gas pumps at service stations.Sparks in such areas could cause an explosionor fire resulting in bodily injury or death.Observe restrictions in fuel service stations, storage, and distribution areas; chemicalplants; or where blasting operations are inprogress. Areas with a potentially explosiveatmosphere are often, but not always, clearlymarked. They include areas where you wouldbe advised to turn off your vehicle engine, below deck on boats, chemical transfer orstorage facilities and where the air containschemicals or particles such as grain, dust, ormetal powders. You should check with themanufacturers of vehicles using liquefiedpetroleum gas (such as propane or butane) todetermine if this device can be safely used intheir vicinity.

Certification information (SAR)This mobile device meets guidelines forexposure to radio waves.

Your mobile device is a radio transmitter andreceiver. It is designed not to exceed the limitsfor exposure to radio waves recommended byinternational guidelines. These guidelineswere developed by the independent scientificorganisation ICNIRP and include safetymargins designed to assure the protection ofall persons, regardless of age and health.

The exposure guidelines for mobile devicesemploy a unit of measurement known as theSpecific Absorption Rate or SAR. The SAR limitstated in the ICNIRP guidelines is 2.0 watts/kilogram (W/kg) averaged over 10 grams oftissue. Tests for SAR are conducted usingstandard operating positions with the devicetransmitting at its highest certified powerlevel in all tested frequency bands. The actualSAR level of an operating device can be belowthe maximum value because the device isdesigned to use only the power required toreach the network. That amount changesdepending on a number of factors such as howclose you are to a network base station.

The highest SAR value under the ICNIRPguidelines for use of the device at the ear is1.28 W/kg.

Use of device accessories may result indifferent SAR values. SAR values may varydepending on national reporting and testingrequirements and the network band.Additional SAR information may be providedunder product information atwww.nokia.com.
