Insert a SIM card and battery

Switch the phone off, then removethe back cover.

If the battery is in the phone, lift itout.

Open the holder, then put the SIM inwith the contact area face down. See

These are required to unblock a PIN or PIN2 code.

IMEI number

(15 digits)

This is used to identify valid phones in the network. Thenumber can also be used to block, for example, stolenphones. You may also need to give the number to NokiaCare services.

To view your IMEI number, dial *#06#.

Lock code(security code)

(min. 5 digits)

This helps you protect your phone against unauthoriseduse.

You can set your phone to ask for the lock code that youdefine. The default lock code is 12345.

Keep the code secret and in a safe place, separate fromyour phone.

If you forget the code and your phone is locked, yourphone will require service. Additional charges may apply,and all the personal data in your phone may be deleted.

GLASS PARTSThe device screen is made of glass.This glass can break if the device is

PROTECT YOUR HEARINGListen to a headset at a moderatelevel, and do not hold the device

near your ear when the loudspeaker is in use.

Product and safety information

Feature specific instructions 1 Avoid touching the antenna area while

the antenna is in use. Contact with antennasaffects the communication quality and mayreduce battery life due to higher power levelduring operation.

4 Important: This device is designedto be used with a standard SIM card (see

figure) only. Use of incompatible SIM cardsmay damage the card or the device, and maycorrupt data stored on the card. Pleaseconsult your mobile operator for the use ofa SIM card that has a mini-UICC cutout.

5 Missed and received calls are loggedonly if supported by the network, and thephone is switched on and within the networkservice area.

6 Using services or downloading contentmay cause transfer of large amounts of data,which may result in data traffic costs.

7 You can send text messages that arelonger than the character limit for a singlemessage. Longer messages are sent as twoor more messages. Your service providermay charge accordingly.

Characters with accents, other marks, orsome language options, take more space,limiting the number of characters that can besent in a single message.

8 If the item you insert in a multimediamessage is too large for the network, thedevice may automatically reduce the size.

9 Only compatible devices can receiveand display multimedia messages. Messagesmay look different in different devices.

10 Sending a message with anattachment may be more expensive thansending a normal text message. For moreinformation, contact your service provider.

11 The edited ringtone does not replacethe original ringtone or sound clip. Presetringtones cannot be modified, and not allformats of ringtones are supported.

12 Only those features that aresupported by the social networking serviceare available.

Using social networking services requiresnetwork support. This may involve thetransmission of large amounts of data andrelated data traffic costs. For informationabout data transmission charges, contactyour service provider.

13 The social networking services arethird party services and not provided byNokia. Check the privacy settings of thesocial networking service you are using asyou may share information with a large groupof people. 14 Operating the device in hidden modeis a safer way to avoid malicious software. Donot accept Bluetooth connection requestsfrom sources you do not trust. You can alsodeactivate Bluetooth function when you arenot using it.

16 Warning: When the flight profile isactivated, you cannot make or receive anycalls, including emergency calls, or use otherfeatures that require network coverage. Tomake a call, activate another profile.

Network services and costsYour device is approved for use on the(E)GSM 900 and 1800 MHz networks. To usethe device, you need a subscription with aservice provider.

Using network services and downloadingcontent to your device requires a networkconnection and may result in data trafficcosts. Some product features requiresupport from the network, and you may needto subscribe to them.

Take care of your deviceHandle your device, battery, charger andaccessories with care. The followingsuggestions help you protect your warrantycoverage.• Keep the device dry. Precipitation,humidity, and all types of liquids or moisturecan contain minerals that corrode electronic

circuits. If your device gets wet, remove thebattery, and allow the device to dry.• Do not use or store the device in dustyor dirty areas. Moving parts and electroniccomponents can be damaged.• Do not store the device in hightemperatures. Batteries and chargersBattery and charger informationYour device is intended for use with a BL-5Crechargeable battery. Nokia may makeadditional battery models available for thisdevice. Always use original Nokia batteries.

This device is intended for use when suppliedwith power from the following chargers:AC-11. The exact Nokia charger modelnumber may vary depending on the plugtype, identified by E, X, AR, U, A, C, K, or B.

The battery can be charged and dischargedhundreds of times, but it will eventually wearout. When the talk and standby times arenoticeably shorter than normal, replace thebattery.

Battery safetyAlways switch the device off and disconnectthe charger before removing the battery.When you unplug a charger or an accessory,hold and pull the plug, not the cord.

When your charger is not in use, unplug itfrom the electrical plug and the device. Donot leave a fully charged battery connectedto a charger, as overcharging may shortenthe battery’s lifetime. If left unused, a fullycharged battery will lose its charge over time.

Always keep the battery between 15°C and25°C (59°F and 77°F). Extreme temperaturesreduce the capacity and lifetime of thebattery. A device with a hot or cold batterymay not work temporarily.

Accidental short-circuiting can happen whena metallic object touches the metal strips onthe battery, for example, if you carry a sparebattery in your pocket. Short-circuiting maydamage the battery or the connecting object.

Do not dispose of batteries in a fire as theymay explode. Dispose of batteries accordingto local regulations. Recycle when possible.Do not dispose as household waste.

Do not dismantle, cut, open, crush, bend,puncture, or shred cells or batteries. If abattery leaks, do not let battery liquid touchskin or eyes. If this happens, immediatelyflush the affected areas with water, or seekmedical help.

Do not modify, remanufacture, attempt toinsert foreign objects into the battery, orimmerse or expose it to water or otherliquids. Batteries may explode if damaged.

Use the battery and charger for theirintended purposes only. Improper use, or useof unapproved batteries or incompatiblechargers may present a risk of fire,explosion, or other hazard, and mayinvalidate any approval or warranty. If youbelieve the battery or charger is damaged,take it to a service centre for inspectionbefore continuing to use it. Never use a


damaged battery or charger. Only use thecharger indoors.

Additional safety informationMake an emergency call1. Make sure the device is switched on.2. Check for adequate signal strength. Certification information (SAR)This mobile device meets guidelines forexposure to radio waves.

Your mobile device is a radio transmitter andreceiver.
