Coach Parking and Setting Down

• NorwichLower Clarence Road: NR1 1HA. 5 min drive from city centre, behind railway station, off B1140. £6 (£20 on Norwich City Football Club home match days). Nearby supermarket has toilets and café.15 min walk or number 25 bus from railway station to city centre.

Harford Park & Ride: NR4 6DY. Off A140 Ipswich road, junction with A47 Southern Bypass. Separate entrance from B1113. Mon-Sat, closed Sun and bank hols. Must be pre-booked on 01603 223845 or [email protected]. Bookings processed Mon-Fri. £10 including free travel to/from bus station for driver and use of driver facilities (during opening hours).

There are also various on-street bays for coaches with parking times of 10 mins-1hr.

Coaches can drop off/pick up at more than 10 locations across the city (see page 13). Times range from 7am-7pm with the exception of Theatre Street outside the Theatre Royal which can be used any time any day.

BY ROADNorfolk is connected to the rest of the UK by amodern and efficient road network. From theSouth East and London, the M11, A11, A12 andA14 are the major trunk roads. The A14, A11 andA47 are the principal routes for traffic from theMidlands and North.

BY RAILThe average journey time from London LiverpoolStreet to Norwich is 1hr 50 mins, and from LondonKing’s Cross to King’s Lynn takes around 1hr 40mins. Change at Peterborough for services fromthe Midlands, North and Scotland. Local servicesconnect Norwich to Great Yarmouth, Cromer andSheringham. BY FERRYBoth car and passenger ferries operate dailybetween Harwich and the Hook of Holland(Call Stena Line on 0844 5764764.)

BroadlandBroadland is home to some of the most beautifulcountryside in Norfolk and is made up of manycontrasting landscapes. To the east lies part ofthe world famous Broads. In the west you canexplore the gentle rolling landscapes and anincredible array of unspoilt villages withpicturesque flint cottages, churches and houses.To the north is the impressive market town ofAylsham, famed for its history, market, auctionrooms and tranquil pace of life.

Greater YarmouthOne of the UK’s top seaside resorts and Norfolk’scapital of fun. The Golden Mile with its two piers ispacked with attractions and amusements includingcrazy golf, the Sea Life Centre, Merrivale ModelVillage, the Pleasure Beach and Yesterday’s World.The resort has superb entertainment, a bustlingtown centre and fascinating maritime heritage with6 museums and a range of tours and walks,surrounded by 15 miles of sandy beaches, relaxingwaterways including the Trinity Broads andbeautiful countryside.

A wonderful mixture of shiny shopping malls and high-street storescombine with individual and speciality shopssituated on narrow cobbled streets and lanes.

West NorfolkIn West Norfolk you will find unspoilt coastline and rolling countryside which is home to a huge variety ofwildlife. Hunstanton, with its award winning beaches, is West Norfolk’s best known seaside resort and themedieval port of King’s Lynn is the capital of the area. Pretty buildings line Lynn’s cobbled streets and,throughout the year, the town comes alive with festivals celebrating its rich arts scene and heritage.

South NorfolkSouth Norfolk is the gateway to the beautifulWaveney Valley and Southern Broads and a greatbase from which to explore Norfolk’s countryside,market towns, coast and the city of Norwich. Historicmarket towns bustle in languid and peacefullandscapes, and every sleepy village has an ancientchurch and welcoming pub. The gentle countrysideis great for easy walking and cycling, and ourwetlands are havens for wildlife and anglers.

The itineraries below can be used as single day trips or packaged together for short breaks and longer stays.

Norwich: Itinerary One

• Start your day at the majestic Norwich Castle, now the county's principal museum or the newly reopened BridewellMuseum in the Norwich Lanes where thecity’s fascinating past is brought to life.

• Head to the Cathedral Quarter and explore the beautiful buildings, unique shops and of course Norwich Cathedralwhere you can also enjoy a tasty lunch.

• Spend the afternoon discovering why Norwich is one of the top 10 places to shop in the UK. Don’t miss Jarrold, the nation’s favourite department store, or Colman’s Mustard Shop & Museum in the art nouveau Royal Arcade.

• After an early dinner at the George Hotel, take in a show at Norwich Theatre Royal– they offer a varied programme of performances all year round.

Norwich: Itinerary Two

• One of the best ways to discover Norwichis to take a guided tour or hop on and off the City Sightseeing open top bus.

• After a busy morning, enjoy a delicious lunch overlooking the river at Table Tableat the Norwich Nelson Premier Inn.

• Head to the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, less than 3 miles from the city centre, and discover an outstanding collection of contemporary and world art, and the café has great coffee and cake!

Coast: Itinerary One

• A morning at Holkham Hall will be time well spent. As well as a splendid Palladianhall set in rolling parkland, you’ll find a museum, lake cruises and shop.

• After lunch at Deepdale Café, head back east to Sheringham, a popular seaside resort and home to Priory Maze & Gardens and the North Norfolk Railway.Hop on the train for a 10½ mile round trip that will take you through an area of North Norfolk designated as being of outstanding natural beauty.

Coast: Itinerary Two

• If stately homes are your passion, head to West Norfolk for Sandringham.Best known as the country home of HM The Queen, Sandringham also boasts 60 acres of beautiful gardens and a fascinating museum of estate history and royal memorabilia.

• Offering freshly baked bread, rolls and cakes, Bircham Windmill is a great light lunch stop.

• Head north and finish off your day with a trip to see the seals in their natural environment. Trips can be taken from Blakeney Point with Beans Seal Trips.

The Broads: Itinerary One

• Start your day exploring the unique shops and craft studios at Wroxham Barns.

• Next, those with a thirst for adventure will love BeWILDerwood, whilst the less energetic will enjoy the 9 mile scenic trip from Wroxham to Aylsham on the Bure Valley Railway, Norfolk’s longest narrow gauge heritage steam railway complete with its own café at Aylsham station, perfect for lunch.

• Head just a few miles north to the National Trust’s Blickling Hall and after exploring the house and gardens make sure there’s time for tea!

The Broads: Itinerary Two

• Just 10 miles north east of Norwich, taketo the water with a boat trip from Wroxhamwith Broads Tours.

• Enjoy a leisurely shore-side lunch at the Waterside Grill & Brasserie at Hotel Wroxham.

• Make the short journey to South Walsham and discover the unique gardens and wildlife at Fairhaven Woodland & Water Garden and don’t miss the fabulous homemade cakes in the tearoom.

Seaside: Itinerary One

• Take a guided heritage coach tour of Great Yarmouth or visit the Time & Tidemuseum to explore the town’s history fromherring port to seaside resort.

• Enjoy a leisurely walk along the famous golden mile and discover the charming miniature world of Merrivale Model Village or curiosities from bygone days and a Victorian themed tearoom at Yesterday’s World.

• For an action-packed evening of excitement and entertainment, head to Yarmouth Stadium, East Anglia’s premiergreyhound racing venue.

Its narrow streets wind their way to a workingport where little fishing boats still put out tosea along the narrow channel connecting thetown with the pine-fringed Holkham Bay - thesetting for the final scene in Shakespeare inLove. In summer the Wells & WalsinghamLight Railway, the world's longest 10¼" narrowgauge railway, runs alongside the channeland road leading to the beach, through thecountryside to the ancient pilgrimage villageof Walsingham.
