Don’t Miss This
On Tuesday RAN personnel visited the school to talk to interested students. Lieutenant Commander Susanna Hung, Commanding Officer LADS Flight, an hydrographic engineer along with 2 of her team spoke to the students about different paths to the ADF, what to expect in the recruitment and interview process and what they might expect to get out of a career in the ADF. Our students from years 9 and 11 asked a variety of very interesting questions which reflected the research they have been doing into their own career exploration. Staff and students of NICS would like to extend our thanks to the survey team for taking the time, in their very busy schedule, to come and talk to us.

Previously this week I had the honour of meeting up with Will Partridge who has
successfully been offered a contract to train and play in the under 19’s Redcliff Dolphins
team. Will has formerly displayed his high level of football skills at many occasions on and
off Norfolk. In the interview I had with Will earlier in the week, he explains what exactly he
will have to do and what he has done to obtain this contract and the experiences it will
hold.
What is the contract for and who is it with?
The contract is a training contract for football in the NRL. This means I possibly get to play
in the under 19’s for the Redcliff Dolphins.
How did you get this contract?
Recently when Petero Civoniceva was at the school he saw me playing football and said,
his exact words were, “you’ve too much talent to waste” and said if I really wanted to
persue football to email him and yeah… And he got me into it I suppose.
What is the term of the contract?
It’s a training contract that’s for two years.
By accepting this contract, what future prospects might it bring for you?
Play for Redcliff Dolphins and go on to higher levels. Possibly playing in first grade in NRL.
What are your obligations under the contract? What do you have to do?
I’m based in Brisbane and will probably have to train four to five times a week and just
keep healthy, watch what I eat, probably a gym/fitness program.
Are there any restrictions placed on you? Is there anything you’re not
allowed to do?
I’m not allowed to muck up and that.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
Hopefully I will be able to go on and play first grade in the NRL. That is my
goal.
Not so long ago Will also represented Norfolk in tennis at the Youth
Commonwealth Games where he played exceptionally well. Will is a great
athlete representing the island in more than one sport and we know that Will
is going to do Norfolk Island proud and hope that he is successful in reaching his next goal.

Congratulations—William Partridge
