Shwood “Experiment with Nature.” The wood-sun- glass label from Beaverton, Oregon started with an experiment using a branch from a strawberry tree, old clos-et hinges and some old lenses from the store next door. What came out are cool looking Wayfarer-inspired sunglasses, re-ally clean and edgy. Every piece is unique and handcrafted. Shwood gets their wood from sustainable farmed wood plantations in Africa to keep up the preservation of the tree population.

Vij5 Newspaper-Wood Furniture made out of wood; paper made out of wood. BUT is wood once paper you can only recycle it into other paper products. Mieke Meijer, studying at the Design Acade- my in Ein-dhoven, could not arrange with that fact. She took the challenge and decided to form and glue old newspapers into a “tree trunk”. The Material that she came up with can be sawn, cut and nailed. Through the structure of the glued newspapers, the cut planks create a vision of real wood and are used for tables, closets and drawers.
The FREITAG brothers wanted a heavy-duty, functional and water-repellent bag to carry their designs.Inspired by the cheer-fully coloured lorries rumbling along the cross-Zurich highway just in front of their flat, Markus and Daniel Freitag cut a mes-senger bag out of an old truck tarpaulin. As the carry belt, they used second-hand car seat-belt webbing, while an old bicycle inner tube provided the edging.
OAT Shoes “The future of fashion lies in a reconciliation between nature and in-dustry. OAT Shoes strives to lead the way to that future.” The ingredients used for OAT’s recipe are a combination of natural materials like hemp, bio-cotton and cork, together with certified biodegradable plas-tics.
