STRUCTURE REPLACEMENT NORTH BARNARD ISLANDS LIGHTHOUSE LOCATION: “Kent Island” - 10nm South East of Innisfail, QLD PRINCIPAL: Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) PERIOD: Jan 2015 to June 2015 MAJOR SUBCONTRACTORS: AECOM, Absolute Demolitions, Cassowary Coast Scaffolding, Heliservices, Mission Beach Electrical, Ken Fox Homes. MAJOR SUPPLIERS: Holcim Concrete, One Steel Reio, Konnect, Midway Metals, Tonkin Steel, Nepean-Weldlok, Ringwood & Ply DETAILS: This project was for the design and construction of a new concrete footing. Setup of a temporary aid to navigation. Demolition of existing structure and old concrete footing, including removal off the island back to the coast via helicopter for approved disposal. Construction of new 100 tonne concrete footing using helicopters with kibbles for placing the new concrete. Erection of a new 5 storey modular fibreglass tower and electrical works associated with the new installation.
