hunger factsHunger kills another child every 10 seconds. Every day, nearly 8,000 kids die because of hunger-related causes. These deaths are absolutely, 100% preventable.
More than 1 billion people go hungry every day. Many families depend entirely on what they can grow. Others can barely afford to buy food. Either way, hunger is anything but yesterday’s problem.
Hunger traps people in poverty. Around 1.4 billion people live on less than $1.25 a day—facing heart-rending choices between things like meals and medical care for their children.
Hunger hurts children. Malnourished kids are four times more likely to die from disease. Of those who survive, many are impacted for life—because hunger starves the brain and weakens the body.
We CAN banish hunger to the history books. There’s enough food. There are enough resources and know-how. There are enough of us who can raise our voices to !ght hunger. The question is: Will we?

TanzaniaMillions face chronic food shortages—on top of crushing poverty and the AIDS pandemic, which has left a million kids without one or both parents.
