Call to Order Dr. Machen called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
Cammie Townley made a motion to approve the
minutes from the August 9, 2017 meeting. Deb
Kauffman seconded. Motion passed.
System Finance The budget spreadsheet was included in the meeting
packet. $20,977.47 is the current balance which does
include education requests to be discussed later on
the agenda.
There was discussion about how to spend the
remaining dollars. Cammie asked the committee to
consider paying her registration to ATLS Course
Coordinator class at KU in Kansas City. Deb Kauffman
moved to reimburse Cammie for her expenses.

Wendy presented a proposed scoring matrix for the
committee to consider using for FY2018 education
requests. The committee gave conceptual approval
pending minor specific regional updates.

Hays Medical Center recently had their reverification
from ACS for Level III Trauma Center. Cammie

Update
Samantha Ramskill has moved to another state
agency. The Trauma Program has hired her
replacement who will begin employment on
November 20.

Susan B. Allen in El Dorado has expired and we
are waiting to hear from them regarding their
intent
Harper County District 5 and Anthony Medical
Center have merged under one CMS number.
Both are Level IV TC but expire at different
dates. Questions remain how to proceed with
their designations.
We are beginning the planning process for a Level IV
Workshop in Spring 2018. If anyone has topic ideas for
the workshop, please let Wendy know.
Level IV and Level III trauma centers would benefit
form a TOPIC course. Wendy will pass this
information along.

video and curriculum for young children called
Hunter & Scout’s Poison Patrol.
This week is National Carbon Monoxide
Awareness Week. This is a good time to
remind people of the signs and symptoms as
well as encourage all households to have a

carbon monoxide alarm. The CPSC has a good

The next Child Passenger Safety Technician
Certification Course will be held November 14-
16 at KLETC. This is a controlled course so you
must register with Safe Kids Worldwide and
KLETC.
The Ultimate Car Seat Guide,
https://www.safekids.org/ultimate-car-seat-
guide/, is a great tool for parents and
caregivers to use to learn about how to install
and fit their children in car seats. This is now
also available in Spanish.
With the upcoming holidays, Safe Kids Kansas
will highlight cooking safety, decorating safety
and travel safety.
KDHE Injury Prevention Mini-grant RFP has been
released. The deadline for application is December 1,
2017.
Cammie is struggling with counties reporting Stop the
Bleed courses in the NW region. If anyone has taught
these courses, please let Cammie know.

Tracy Cleary was not available for this meeting but
they are still working on the Facility Recognition
Collaboration and the Pediatric Readiness Project.
Tracy wants to extend her appreciation to the EMS
services in Kansas for the 100% participation in the
data survey.

region is terribly outdated. Wendy had sent the list to
Deb who has been working to get it updated. Wendy
