Chairman’s end of year Report
Dear Members……. I am sitting writing this in the sunshine as Claudine and I have been over in Cyprus for
Christmas and New Year. Looking back on the past year of club events, I would like to thank all those members who
helped by attending those events and also assisting on the day. Some were better attended than others, but they were all successful and I am sure enjoyed by those who came along. It is a great time to catch up with friends and enjoy the social side of the club.
The year ended most successfully with the Christmas gathering in the Barnstaple Pannier Market. Our thanks, once again, go to Glenn Merritt for all the effort he made in making sure that the day was the success it was. Also to Peter and Petrina Westaway and John and Joan Whitehead for all their help on the day. The public turned up in great numbers coming to admire the many cars, motor bikes and VWs that were on display. Also to listen to the music by the George Formby Tribute band.
Our thoughts go out to David Ginns who has been in hospital since before Christmas, we wish him and any other members who are not in the best of health a swift recovery, and we look forward to seeing you all again in the coming season.
We wish every one of you and your families, and all the very best for 2015.

Display of vehicles What a fantastic day it was. To all those members and other exhibiters who turned up on the Sunday, we thank you. It was every one of you who created drew in so many people off the High Street. Many of them telling us what a great atmosphere there was and were so impressed by the many wonderful vehicles. There were over 50 cars, 10 VW Camper vans and more than 20 motorbikes all gathered under one roof. Our thanks go to Glenn Merritt, the organizer of this event, for the effort he put into making it such a success. Well done. Glenn. Also to Peter and Trish and John and Joan Whitehead for assisting in making sure everything went smoothly on the day. Everyone was saying what a great atmosphere there was. Not forgetting of course having, once again, the ‘swinging’ music from the George Formby Tribute Band. They certainly had the feet tapping! And on top of all that our chairman, John, enrolled 11 new members on the day. We must have been doing something right! Thank you also to those who contributed with prizes towards the raffle, it was very much appreciate. We made £50.

My father-in-law wants to sell this as room required. It’s a 2 owner Alfa Romeo GTV 2.0 Alfetta 1978 model. This has 38k from new with full service history locally at what was Goose Green garage in Bideford it is a Devon car. Last MOT in 09 with full service, battery, radiator brakes inc rear calipers. It was then put straight back into his dry garage ‘till now. The engine etc all runs smoothly and I have driven it to Abbotsham and back up to temperature. Bodily very sound it would appear to an ex mot tester but front wings have flaking paint due to poor prep work at some point and tailgate rusted. Alloy wheels fitted but original steel wheels in boot. He would love this car to remain and loved in North Devon. The car comes with original bill of sale and I consider a rare find , Ziebarted from new hence lack of rot.

Another year has nearly passed and we're all a little older.
Last summer felt hotter and winter seems much colder. There was a time not long ago when life was quite a blast.
Now I fully understand about 'Living in the Past'. We used to go to weddings, football games and lunches,
Now we go to funeral homes and after-funeral brunches. We used to have hangovers, from parties that were gay.
Now we suffer body aches and wile the night away. We used to go out dining, and couldn't get our fill.
Now we ask for doggie bags, come home and take a pill. We used to often travel to places near and far. Now we get sore asses from riding in the car.
We used to go to nightclubs and drink a little booze. Now we stay home at night and watch the evening news.
That, my friend is how life is, and now my tale is told. So, enjoy each day and live it up... before you're too damn old.
