Dear Alumni, Players, Parents & Friends, It’s amazing how fast a football season can go. It feels like just yesterday that we had the first team meeting and I introduced myself as the head football coach. The 2014 football season was a journey filled with many ups and downs. We ended our season in the first round of the North Jersey Section 2 Group 5 NJSIAA playoffs against eventual winner Linden High School. Yes, it was a disappointing loss, but it cannot overshadow what we, as a program, were able to accomplish. We started the season 4-1 for first time since 1992, had a winning record in con- ference first time since 2002 (4-3), and for the first time in the history of the program, made the playoffs as a Group 5 school. North Hunterdon was involved in the Star Ledger Game of the Week against rival Voorhees (which we won, 29-21) and the Verizon Fios Game of the Week against Immaculata, coming away with a thrilling 35-31 victory. Both were firsts for our pro- gram. Behind the leadership of 16 seniors, the 2014 North Hunterdon football team broke or tied 16 different all-time school records. Statistically speaking, this North Hunterdon football team will go down as the second best offensive unit in school history. I am very thankful for all the support we received from the administration, parents, alumni, fans and players. Without it, my first year as head coach would not have been as enjoyable as it was. I also want to recognize the coaching staff of North Hunterdon, which is comprised of eight coaches who put forth an incredible amount of time and effort to build a positive experi- ence for the North Hunterdon community. Dear Alumni, Players, Parents & Friends,

It’s amazing how fast a football season can go. It feels like just yesterday that we had the first

team meeting and I introduced myself as the head football coach. The 2014 football season

was a journey filled with many ups and downs. We ended our season in the first round of the

North Jersey Section 2 Group 5 NJSIAA playoffs against eventual winner Linden High School.

Yes, it was a disappointing loss, but it cannot overshadow what we, as a program, were able to

accomplish. We started the season 4-1 for first time since 1992, had a winning record in con-

ference first time since 2002 (4-3), and for the first time in the history of the program, made the

playoffs as a Group 5 school. North Hunterdon was involved in the Star Ledger Game of the

Week against rival Voorhees (which we won, 29-21) and the Verizon Fios Game of the Week

against Immaculata, coming away with a thrilling 35-31 victory. Both were firsts for our pro-

gram. Behind the leadership of 16 seniors, the 2014 North Hunterdon football team broke or

tied 16 different all-time school records. Statistically speaking, this North Hunterdon football

team will go down as the second best offensive unit in school history.

I am very thankful for all the support we received from the administration, parents, alumni, fans

and players. Without it, my first year as head coach would not have been as enjoyable as it

was. I also want to recognize the coaching staff of North Hunterdon, which is comprised of

eight coaches who put forth an incredible amount of time and effort to build a positive experi-

ence for the North Hunterdon community. Thank you!

Special Thanks To: TEST Football Academy (right) for working the

North Community and the Jungle (below) for the outstanding support

at all games this season .

2014 Varsity Captains: With the 2014 season came great change in what was ex-

pected of a North Hunterdon football captain. We went into

the season with 0 captains and we came out with a team full of

them. We decided as a staff to have game captains that

were nominated from a rating scale of 1/2 performance, 1/4

Influence and 1/4 practice. At the end of the season, the team

would vote for who would be the overall captains for the 2014

season. “It’s easy to say you’re a leader when you are 0-0,

but what happens in the middle of the season or at the end

when everything didn’t go as planned?”

Congratulations:

With nearly 50 players, the NHHS Freshman football

team had a record number of athletes participat-

ing. Their final record was 3-5-1. The players

gained valuable experience playing a very competi-

tive schedule. They also did a great job learning the

new offensive and defensive terminology. The team

had big wins against Montgomery, Plainfield and

Scotch Plains. They are a competitive and committed

group. The coaches look forward to them hitting the

weight room to improve their strength, conditioning

and speed.

2014 JR Lions In Review…

The Future of North Hunterdon Football

The 2014 North Hunterdon Jr. Lions

were a great group of young men who

worked hard together to achieve many

victories this season. Notable conquests

included defeating Hunterdon Central

for the second year in a row, 8-6, to

keep the “Route 31 Bowl” trophy with

the Jr. Lions. Another victory that the Jr.

Lions were particularly excited about

was defeating Philipsburg’s Little Liners

on the Lions’ home turf. Road wins in-

clude beating the Del Val Terriers

and the Watchung Warriors in

decisive victories. The Jr. Lions

were very proud to be able to end

their 2014 season with a bowl

game win, played at home,

against the Woodland Jr. Hawks

from Connecticut.

North Hunterdon’s brand of football, known as “The Hard

Hat Mentality” was represented well in 2014.

“Thank you to the entire JR Lions

coaching staff for all the hard

work. “ Coach Mazzetta

Congratulations to all levels of Hunterdon Huskies on a successful season!

Recruiting….

Once the football season

ends, the recruiting season

begins! From November

through February, colleges

are on the road looking for

their next classes. This year,

eight of our young men will

have an opportunity to fur-

ther their playing careers

and prepare for life after

football. This season, we

had more than 40 schools

from all three divisions plus

the Ivy and Patriot Leagues

stop by to recruit

our players.

Recruiting for the

classes of 2016

begins in April. Some schools have al-

ready reached out to us for information

on our rising juniors. In order to pre-

pare for the recruiting process, juniors

should prepare their player bio, a high-

light film on Hudl, register with the NCAA

clearinghouse and sign up to take the

SAT. Once highlights and player bios

are complete, we will then provide all

schools and recruiting services with your

information. If you have any questions

about the recruiting process, please feel

free to contact me.
