WEEK 2 session 1 AGE GROUP U7 – U8 TIME 10 MINS ACTIVITY Body Ball LEARNING OBJECTIVE Be able to remember, repeat and link combinations of movements. Be able to choose, use and vary simple tactics OUTCOMES All - begin to use skills thoughtfully in simple competitive games. Most - make choices about appropriate targets and space. Some – Will begin to make early decisions based on targets and space available . PHYSICAL LITERACY Body Ball – Place balls around the area, players move around the area in different ways, forward, backwards, sideways, hopping, skipping, jumping, crawling. The coach will say a body part and players place that body part on the ball. Only one player per ball. Progression – Players dribble the ball around the area and place body on the balls. Coaching points – Body control, scanning, change of speed and direction. WEEK 2 session 1 AGE GROUP U7 – U8 TIME 10 MINS ACTIVITY Body Ball

LEARNING

OBJECTIVE

Be able to remember, repeat and link combinations

of movements. Be able to choose, use and vary

simple tactics

OUTCOMES All - begin to use skills thoughtfully in simple

competitive games. Most - make choices about

appropriate targets and space. Some – Will begin to

make early decisions based on targets and space

available .

PHYSICAL LITERACY

Body Ball – Place balls around the area, players

move around the area in different ways, forward,

backwards, sideways, hopping, skipping, jumping,

crawling. The coach will say a body part and

players place that body part on the ball. Only one

player per ball.

Progression – Players dribble the ball around the

area and place body on the balls.

Coaching points – Body control, scanning, change

of speed and direction.

TECHNICAL

Fakes and Feints – Players dribble around the area when they arrive at a cone, players stop the ball do a fake of their choice and move to another cone. Example Fakes – Stop-Start, Lunge fake, Fake shot. Progression – Can players do fakes on the move between cones – Introduce new moves to players that need new challenge, Step over, Matthew. Introduce a defender/s (coaches) can players go around. Coaching points – Head up, attack space, change direction, change speed, inside, outside, laces.

PHYSICAL LITERACY

Chain Tag – one player starts as the tagger, if they

tag another player they join hands and attempt to

tag others. Game ends when all players have been

tagged.

Variations – Change the size of the area bigger or

smaller based on success.

Progression – Players (blue) dribble soccer balls.

Taggers face opposite directions.

Coaching points – Communication, change direction

and speed, fakes.

TECHNICAL

Dribble Square – Each player has a ball, they dribble to

the nearest cone in the middle dribble around and come

back, as soon as the player before gets back the next

player goes.

Progression – Direction change. When players get to the

cone change direction and speed and travel left or right.

Use fake or feint. 2 - When players get to the cone can

go any direction, scan for cones with low numbers.

Coaching Points – Head up, scan the field, accelerate

away from cone, be creative.
