HOPE
As educators and parents, we have to patiently exert efforts in teaching and disciplining our children for them to develop right values and to adopt strong character while at the same time defeat many difficulties and different challenges. Likewise, strategic school improvement process is a continuous effort that requires us to work together positively as a unified team. It requires our operating system to be further strengthened with an enhanced fertilization and water system. Given the appropriate pacing and sunlight, the bamboo trees in North View will scale new height.

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
In North View Secondary, we believe that ‘Every Pupil Can Achieve His Potential’. Anchored on our mission to develop in our pupils a sound character and a healthy appreciation for life, we are fully committed to realising our school vision of nurturing “Responsible
and Thinking Pupils” and empowering them through a holistic education.
Our teachers are caring, dedicated and resourceful. Guided by the Teachers’ Vision, they daily touch the lives of NorthVians with their care and belief in them. As a school community,
we prize character more than intellect. The school creed, crystallised from the school philosophy, vision and mission, echoes our determination and relentless pursuit to provide an all-encompassing education interwoven
with opportunities to build character and imbue socio-emotional competencies and lifeskills.
‘Onward we go, onward we climb – one spirit, one heart, one mind.’ This refrain from the School Song
resonates strongly within the North View Family. It is our collective professional will to bring ‘HOPE’ to every NorthVian – by providing a second Home, and giving each of them ample Opportunities through our Total Curriculum, so as to help them achieve their Potential, regardless of their starting points. In doing so, we aim
to give them a memorable, quality school Experience which they will treasure for a long time to come.

VALUES IN ACTION (VIA)
Values in Action is a learning experience in Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) that supports our pupils’ development to be socially responsible citizens who contribute meaningfully to the community through the learning and application of values, knowledge and skills.
Secondary 1: Pupils use their acquired nutrition and food labeling knowledge learnt in Food and Consumer Education lessons to promote the importance of healthy eating to their peers in school.
Secondary 2: Secondary 2 pupils believe the importance of having pride in their school’s environment. Different teams work together to advocate the importance of taking care different areas of the school through their VIA projects.
Secondary 3: Through the collaboration with National Kidney Foundation (NKF) in their VIA projects, Secondary 3 pupils demonstrate care for patients suffering from kidney diseases.
Secondary 4: Secondary 4 pupils take initiatives to understand community’s needs before embarking on their service learning (SL) projects for VIA. Through SL projects, pupils are able to have ownership of their learning and contribute to the identified community.

NORTHVIANS’ SAY ‘NORTH VIEW, OUR HOME’
CUPCAKES FROM EX-STUDENT, MR DANIEL ONG
On 7 Jan 2014, one of our ex-students, Mr Daniel Ong, an ex-DJ, surprised us with more than 15 boxes of cupcakes. Daniel has started his own business in confectionery, and is one of the directors of the Twelve
Cupcakes. When asked why this generous gesture, Daniel said that the school had just re-opened after the holidays and it would be a meaningful way to say ‘hi’ and make this day a memorable one for the teachers. Daniel was a student of the school from 1988 to 1992. He was the pioneer batch of NPCC students, and the Asst Head Prefect. As a school boy, he enjoyed and loved school. In fact, he would always be the ‘first to reach school and the last to leave’. Through his educational journey with the school, he acquired a host of leadership skills and learnt to be independent, giving him the sound foundation for life. If there’s anything he would like to tell our students now, it would certainly be ‘if I can do it, so can you!’
OUR NORTHVIAN SPLINTER - RUELIA NESARANJINI RUFUS2nd in Position for National Track and Field Championships, 2011
I joined North View Secondary as a newly hatched eaglet in 2008, and I’m sure that I’ll be leaving this school as a fully matured eagle ready soar to and succeed in life’s journey. In these 4 years that I’ve been with North View Secondary, I’ve gained the ability to go from strength to strength, which was patiently fostered and consciously inculcated by this school. North View Secondary has nurtured me in many areas and enabled me to achieve academically, excel in track and field, improve my leadership capabilities and find friends who will last for a lifetime. The area North View Secondary has helped me excel the most would be in track and field. Despite the fact that my team did not engage a professional coach, I was able to succeed because of the commitment of my teachers in-charge, Mr Ng and Mr Quek. Mr Ng used his personal time on Saturday mornings to train my team. These trainings brought out the athletic talent in me and laid the foundation for me to become a national junior sprinter of Singapore. This entire experience shows me how North View is blessed with devoted teachers. In short this school will help you strive for the dreams that you thought you could never achieve.
HOME BY MOSES CHARLES, HEAD PREFECT, 2012
It is hard to believe that I am going to leave North View Secondary School and move on to institutions of higher learning. My appreciation goes to all the teaching and support staff of the North View family who have made my stay memorable and smooth sailing. You all have stood by me even when things may have seemed rocky and uncertain, always reassuring me with your kind words. As I embark on my next journey and venture into life beyond school, I am sure that the fine education that I have received will stand me in good stead - time and again. I will always remember North View Secondary School as it taught me to be a caring and responsible citizen, moulded me to be a confident young adult and nurtured me to become an all-rounded person. North View Secondary is and will always be my second home.
Currently, Moses is studying Sports
Management and serving as the President
of the Student Council at ITE, West

CHEW KNG POOCONSTITUENCY DIRECTOR

My time in North View was one of the best and most memorable in my life. I am grateful for the many opportunities that I was
given during my four years in North View as they helped to enrich my academic experience. Our caring teachers were instrumental in our development because they were always there for us, be it giving us valuable and practical advice or helping us in our studies. North View is my home and I will never forget the great times I had there.”
My time in North View Secondary School (NVSS) was a fulfilling one; with boundless opportunities and fantastic teachers, I know that those four years of my life were well lived.
The teachers were selfless, always focusing on giving the best for us students. Bonds that were forged still remains strong, because teachers were like friends to us and the friendship that was developed between schoolmates have always been sincere and genuine. It was as though the school was my second home and the people there were my family. I knew that I could trust and rely on them. It was these wonderful interactions and experiences that shaped me to be a confident person. Today, as I reminisce the past, I cannot help but feel thankful and grateful to all that the school have provided for me.
To the students-to-be of North View Secondary School, I wish you a warm welcome.
My family moved to Yishun in 1989 and I was transferred from my previous school to one of the pioneer Express classes in North View Secondary School in 1989. Adapting to a different school environment and being in a pioneer batch was challenging but yet rewarding, and my journey imparted to me many values, the most important being perseverance, self-belief and giving back to the community.
The journey through teenage and school life is not easy, and is meant to be such. There is no magic formula for a successful journey. This is necessary to mould you from children into men and women worthy of respect, and I hope you will benefit from your journey through North View, just as I did.
Your journey beckons, and I envy you the adventures that await you. I wish you the best!
