SAS Staff Recognition Week This week is SAS Staff Recognition Week! I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge all the hard work and efforts of all our SAS staff at GNPS. Our SAS staff include, Janet Signor (School Administration Manager), Cheryl Adcock, Tammy Gale, Sarah Signor (School Administration Officers), Helen Cambrell, Rachael Fattore, Allison Forbes, Melissa Zambon, Jodie Smith, Anita Kumaran, Jane Francis, Vanessa Blumer, Frank Cirillo, Ashley De Paoli (School Learning Support Officers), Michelle Russell (Aboriginal Education Officer) and Keith Chapman (General Assistant). All do a brilliant job and often their hard work goes unnoticed however, without all their efforts, we would not be as efficient and effective as we are. On behalf of the teaching staff of GNPS I would like to thank the SAS staff for all they do to support public education at GNPS!

The Partners in Learning parent feedback survey This term, our school will be participating in the Partners in Learning parent survey, another part of the Tell Them From Me suite of surveys (student, teacher and parent surveys) on student engagement. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement. Running this survey will help our school understand parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s experience at school. These include: communication between parents/carers and staff, activities and practices at home and parent/carer views on the school's support of learning and behaviour. This valuable feedback will help our school make practical improvements. The survey is conducted entirely online at home or on public computers. The survey will typically take 15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential. The parent survey will be conducted between 22 August and 21 October. Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary, however, your responses are very much appreciated.

Ascent Shoe Lace Tying Visit On Friday 5th August the students from KC, KD, K/1P, 1A and 1/2M were treated to a shoe lace tying lesson provided by Athlete’s Foot. The students were given a shoe to practise on and shown a video outlining the steps involved when tying laces. The video was repeated, this time allowing the students the opportunity to complete each step. This very “hands on” lesson was concluded with some games. Some children were even able to tie laces with the shoe behind their backs.

Sport News Riverina NSW PSSA Rugby Union Carnival On the 22nd August we attended the PSSA Rugby Union Championships in Mudgee. We competed in 7 games over 3 days. Our first game was a close one but we lost it, then we lost another 2 games after that. On Day 2 we won both games and on Day 3, won 1 game and drawing 1 which meant we won the Convener’s Shield. It was such a great experience, with a lot of fun. I am happy with our results as we all tried our best and we all enjoyed ourselves. Thank you to the school, the team, the coach and all the parents. By Jyi and Daniel

Riverina NSW PSSA Touch Football Last week I travelled to Coffs Harbour to compete in the 2016 NSW PSSA Girls Touch State Carnival. It was a great experience, meeting and playing with girls from all over NSW. We played in beautiful sunny weather Tuesday and Thursday but pouring rain all day Wednesday. We played a total of 12 games over 3 days, winning 6 and losing 6.
