Y2RKSH IRE UNDGRGRCUND RESEARCH TEAL ..@ Newsletter - June, 196 h Volume 2. Number 2. .@V . ; unlik - dHLRE NEXT? ---- After the d i ~ opposite the Cafe zt Stump Cross is finished it seem: that we will be able to get pcrmission to do any more surface diguin; in tt'e Greenhow area. Although there are a large number of oossible places underyo und, most of these would involve a large amo int of ~ o r k vith no certainty of 2 breakthrough. Much effort aould thus be ex~ended to no avail. The Greenhow area has been very closely 100iicd at over the last 17 years or so and I suggest that we turn some of our attention to other areas where therc is probably more chance of finding new caves. Much could be accomplished by small group going t o other areas on most weekends, and i f we hzY a fe:~ mo members those who wished t o continue work on Greenhow would still be able SO. ar any comae n I should be interestec ts or alternative suggestions th anyone may care t o make. _ __ -, - _ _. p - MEZTS FOR JULY AND AUGUST. - -,- -- .* There is not sufficient tackle available to descena xowten Pot on the 23rd. July and permission has therefore been obtained for Christmas Pot instead. Meet i n Clapham a t 10 a.m. The meet at Swinsto on August 20th. has been cancclled, as it is undrrstood that the farmer is chargingpotholers 10Ashillinqc each t o descend. Detail< P- the alternative, which will grobably be Irebi, Cavern, will be given in the n?;:- Newsletter. - -- v VALENT IN% HOLE. On the weekend of the ~th/lOth july an attempt will bs mad2 to dig through th2 mud choke at thc North end of the long level in Valentine. This level should connect with the cave in the North ?assag:, and i f it continues, could join %ump Cross a t the Miners' Chamber in IIeaven. All assistance would be helpful, and anyor doesn't fancy dig~ing could still be usefully employed on i, surface n hot meals for t!lc lads! -- ---- -" - - -- * m"- m REPORTS FOR. JUNE9 1946. Friday 3rd. A trip was made up Blayshaw Gill this evening to try and find the entrances tr the pots.
