Transformation Initiative1. Establish up to 3 new Business Education Partnerships.
The Business Education Models pull from the experience of the Berks, Greater Hazleton and Lehigh Valley Business Education Partnerships who successfullycoordinate the resources of the business community in partnership with the educationcommunity with respect to career awareness, talent and workforce development toimprove the pipeline of workers needed in business and industry. Under the Existingpartnerships’ expertise, up to three new business education partnerships will beReplicated.
2. Staff the Business Education Partnerships with Career and Workforce Coordinators.
To expand the development of business education partnerships in the Northeast, it isimperative that Career and Workforce Coordinators be hired. Three part-timeCoordinators will assist the existing partnerships in strategic planning and coordinatingpartners and resources of the business and educational community and up to threefull-time Coordinators, one for each new partnership, working with business, educationand community leaders, serving as intermediaries, to lead, establish and design thestructure of new business education partnerships.

3. Replicate the successful PA CareerLinking Academy Career Awareness Model.
This innovative career exploration program targeted for students ingrades 10-12 is aligned to the PA Department of Education’s AcademicStandards for Career Education and Work, adheres to federal, state,and local career education initiatives and is aligned with high schooleducational requirements for use as a senior graduation project. TheAcademy provides students with a structured program where theyexplore career interests and become linked to the world of work andeducation. The CareerLinking Academy Model was awarded aNational Pinnacle Award for innovativeness from the National Society for Human Resource Management, our partners in this Model.

4. Replicate the successful Career Pathways Education Career Awareness program.
This comprehensive, educational career awareness program preparesa student for a successful career, based on interests and abilities,provides a scope and sequence of academic and technical courses in determining educational pathways for students. Students follow arigorous coherent program of studies focused on career pathways toincrease mathematics, science, communication, problem-solving andtechnical skills, have access to career, technical studies and academicstudies, provides a career-based structured system of study. ThisProgram also provides integrated instruction for students based oncollaboration of academic, vocational and college educators, engagesstudents in learning, and uses data to analyze individual studentachievement, thereby setting higher expectations for all students.

5. Provide a comprehensive, web-based career resource tool called Career Cruising.
Career Cruising is an innovative, web-based career resource tool designedfor all ages, but targeted to middle and high school students to help themfind the right career, explore career options, or plan future education andtraining. With exceptional assessment tools for students, teachers,Guidance counselors and parents, Career Cruising provides detailedoccupation profiles, comprehensive post-secondary education information,career interest surveys, occupational video streaming and much more. Thisinteractive resource, accessible both at school and home, allows students toMove seamlessly through the career exploration and planning processwhile, at the same time, educators have access to real-time information andstatistics necessary to track students’ progress and achievement.

Business Advisory CouncilA regional organization that will combine the efforts of a small group ofthought leaders and business experts throughout nine counties taskedwith identifying future industry trends and ways the Wall Street Westregion can be positioned on the forefront of those trends.
The Council will• Advise on sustainability of projects and programs in the region
including both talent development and technology infrastructure to ensure competitiveness in the industry.
• Provide counsel on best practice strategies.
