MASTER OF SCIENCE
HEALTH INFORMATICS
Northeastern’s MS in Health Informatics
has had a
100% job placement rate within three months
of graduation, with most students receiving job offers before graduation.
THE PROGRAM
MS IN HEALTH INFORMATICS
Northeastern’s interdisciplinary MS in Health Informatics program was the first master’s
program in the field. The program prepares students to successfully address the combined
clinical, technical, and business needs of health-related professionals. Our students
graduate with the knowledge of how technology, people, health, and the healthcare
system interrelate; the ability to use technology and information management to improve
healthcare delivery and outcomes; and the skills to communicate effectively among
healthcare practitioners, administrators, and information technology professionals.
ALIGN Program
Our MS in Health Informatics ALIGN program (Accelerated Link to Industry through
Northeastern’s Global Network) prepares students from diverse backgrounds to excel
in the health informatics field. ALIGN’s custom master’s degree curricula are tailored to
each student’s professional and educational background, allowing them to transition into
successful careers in high-demand industries. Learn more at northeastern.edu/align.
Health Informatics Graduate Certificates
Our Graduate Certificate programs in Health Informatics help you stay current and
competitive in your current or future career. Offering a full range of classes from the
MS in Health Informatics curriculum, our certificates allow students to delve into a specific

The Faculty
Northeastern’s MS in Health Informatics program is taught by respected faculty who
are also senior leaders in the field. They bring their extensive experience in hospitals,
health-care systems, health-related corporations, and government health agencies to the
classroom, allowing students to gain first-hand knowledge of current industry projects.
These dedicated and talented faculty members assure that your education is rigorous,
current, and relevant.
Capstone
Students in the MS in Health Informatics program gain real-world experience from a
required capstone project. The project provides students with the opportunity to integrate
the classroom knowledge they have gained throughout the program with real-world
challenges. Capstone projects consist of practical work and research in a major area
of health informatics with the goal of making an active contribution to the field. Faculty
members provide guidance and mentorship throughout the experience.
THE OPPORTUNITYHealth informatics is a rapidly-evolving field—one in which jobs are projected to
grow by 23% into 2020. As the healthcare system evolves, the ability to integrate
technology into patient care is becoming increasingly imperative, creating great
demand for professionals with knowledge of health sciences, computer science,
and information technology.
Northeastern’s MS in Health Informatics graduates have gone on to hold positions
as clinical, data, business, technical, application, and security analysts, as project
managers, and as CIOs, CMIOs, and directors of many prominent companies.
Recent graduates hold positions at Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, Partners Healthcare,
Beth Israel, Tufts Medical Center, Lawrence General Hospital, Humedica, and
Verisk Analytics.
“ Northeastern’s faculty members are industry leaders. They mentor students by combining their theoretical knowledge with real-world experiences. They know what you need to excel and become a leader in the health informatics field.”
