Tournament Rules: Games will be played under Mini Mod Rules with some alterations.
Mouth Guards are compulsory as all tournaments involve tackle Games to be played with boots. Teams must submit a master team list – players must be registered with RLN as per normal
Game Rules Summary: Teams will have a maximum of 9 players. Both teams will field the same amount of players. Min players U6s -5,
U8s,10s and 12s 8.
There will be strict adherence to the safe-play code.
Field Size – Played from sideline to sideline one half of a full sized Rugby Field.
6 Tackles – one marker allowed
Defence retires 5m. The defence can’t advance until the first receiver touches the ball – or if the dummy half runs
Attack must pass the ball twice (unless they are within their own 20m zone). If they are tackled then it is a turn over (play the ball). However the dummy half or first receiver may run with the ball and they can score
Within 20m it is deemed “Hard Yards” and the first receiver may run and be tackled. If the dummy half is tackled it is a turn over
There are no scrums – all knock ons and forward passes, play is restarted with a play the ball
There is no stripping/stealing of the ball
Zero tackle from opposition knock ons
Tries are worth 4 points – there are no conversions
The scoring team will restart with a place kick from half way
Kicking in general play is allowed (no field goals). If ball goes over shoulder height then the defending team needs to give the kick receiver a 10m bubble.
Games will consist of 2 x 9 minute halves.
